Coming here on that kind of pay without housing or a car - I just don't see how it would work. I admit that I know nothing about the labor camps but you implied that you would be bringing your wife and I would have to believe you would not want her in a labor camp nor would she want to be in a labor camp all day while you worked. In recent topics in QL people have reported that it is even hard to find an apartment under 8000 QR per month which is over $2000 USD. On top of that there have been some real horror stories of people who have been victimized by unscrupulous landlords and they did not have the protection of being in housing leased by their employer. So please - take heed. Finally the issue of sponsorship should be mentioned. If you get here and find a better paying job (and as a civil engineer that should not be hard), you may not be able to take it as your sponsor has complete control over your leaving your position with him.
