The age of the car is one issue - older than 3 years, probably won't get an import permit.
Another issue is even if the car qualifies for an import permit, it was built to US specifications for sale in the US market - not the Gulf. I have often seen cars imported from North America literally disintegrate (seals/belts/interior fittings etc.) because they aren't built for the heat you will find here. Also, AC units are not usually capable of dealing well/long with 50C+ heat in the summer months.
