I live in Mesaieed, and have children in the Norwegian school. We are very pleased with the school, and the children are much more happy here than at the big school they went to in Norway.
So if you plan to put your children in this school, I very much advice you to live in Mesaieed, otherwise they will have quite a long way from Doha to Mesaieed Some of the kids live in Doha and commute to Mesaieed, and that can take up to an hour everyway depending on where they live and traffic, of course.
Mesaieed is, as someone al ready mention, an industrial town. We live in a residential area, not in a compound, so no walls around the house, like you see in Doha. The kids can walk or ride their bikes to school, and they can also do that to see friend or for after-school activities. We feel very safe here. There is a club, Al Banush for the senior staff at Qafco. Its quite nice, brand new pool, restaurant, tennis courts, gym etc. There is also a golf course here.
The school try to organise after-school activites for the children, and parents join in to help. It can be swimming lessons, golf, crafts, football etc. Many of the children take ridng lessons at Al Shaqab in Doha.
So you can really stay busy and activated if you want to. We are a close knit community were everybody knows each other, and that can be both positive and negative....
Due to some large projects, we are expecting a lot more Norwegians (and probably other nationalities) to come to Mesaieed within the next year or two, so the number of students at the school is going to increase. You should take a look at the schools home page: www.dnsqatar.com
