I know that too low/high levels of iron in the blood can cause hairloss. So maybe tap water and purified water are not well balanced.
It'd be weird that the simple contact of tap water on the scalp causes hairloss. If it was the case, it had to contain lots of bad stuff and could not even be considered as drinking water... it's probably more an issue related to what is ingested and goes through our body.
