Went to see "Beyond Reasonable Doubt". Pretty good entertainment. Evening spoilt somewhat by visiting gents after the movie. I have never seen such an appalling condition for a "newly opened" toilet. Strewn used tissue paper all over the place, no hand towels, no toilet rolls and puddles of water (I hope!) all over the place - absolutely unacceptable and certainly not a good message to send the football supporters back home with.
There is no excuse for this mess - simply disgusting!
Just saw "inglorious basterds" - good movie about German occupation of France during world war 2 and the terror campaign against Jews living there. In this movie the Jews are one up on the Germans
Saw Surrogates this evening, movie was ok, but it was great since I live near by and not have to drive around for 20 minutes in City Centre looking for a parking spot.
Its been a while since i last watch a movie on an imax theater, i remember that time when they shown superman in 3D, and you need to make reservation first, knowing that the showing date is still two weeks ahead...cant wait here..
Kids will be kids, and that's where parents are supposed to step in. I'm not about to start a big diatribe about the parenting style we see here in Doha...
However, the parents who stick their kids in the car with the driver and despatch them unaccompanied to the cinema usually seem to send them to Landmark, The Mall and Royal Plaza.
The upside is that you can predict which cinema is more likely to be full of kids who get up throughout the movie to go back to the candy bar, and who talk throughout the movie and who will make the experience a terrible one for the rest of the patrons.
There is a difference between good kids, and kids who do what they want running around free without being told otherwise , ofcourse - I just meant that these kids can be in any of the cinemas.
It doesn't matter what cinema you go to - kids are kids, and you can't control which ones would go to which cinema. The type of kids doesn't depend on the cinema.
Each cinema has it's ups n downs, I've been to royal plaza, when its been nice and empty, and other times when it's full and you'll get people on the phone talking etc, just like i have seen at cinema at CC and elsewhere - can't control the people who go to cinema at the end of the day. CC, sometimes as well, can be full, and other times it's been empty.
I agree Novita. The kids at Royal Plaza are much more insolent and disruptive than the ones at City Center.
But... it is better than Landmark and the Mall, and with the parking situation at City Center so awful, I still end up seeing most movies at Royal Plaza.
And as for the Villagio cinema, who knows.
Best not to believe any hype about when things are supposed to open (new airport, the Pearl, new hotels, Barwa housing, new roads etc). We only get told BS.
watched first time in royal plaza yesterday, apart of me and my son there were few locals kids with the maids.
movie started, these kids screaming, talking ... few of them spill pop corns on the floor and then heards kids crying (more than 1 kids), maid came out and back in with new popcorn. Another kid spilling the coke ...
what a chaos.
will never go back to royal plaza for cinema EVER AGAIN!
CC on the weekend to watch a movie.....This translates to inflicting personal punishment on ones self. Getting to the parking is dramatic enough, then one needs to hunt down a parking space. This is followed by the possibility of having a twit next to you that's hand manages to slide under the armrest and end up on the side of your thigh........ Ugh.... will stick to The Mall and Royal Plaza...... Let's see how Villagio ones pan out when they open....creepy hands wise....
Villagio parking is much better than City Centre especially if you park at the back.. Really never knew there was going to be a new cinema at Villagio.

Does anyone know a website where I can check what movies are showing over there?
Sweet girl
Bye
Just saw "inglorious basterds" - good movie about German occupation of France during world war 2 and the terror campaign against Jews living there. In this movie the Jews are one up on the Germans
As mentioned saw Surrogates there on Thursday night.
The movie was ok, but the seating is tiered so your kids' view won't be blocked by people in front.
The screens are good, seats comfortable, and the place is still clean, ( give it a few weeks though!)
Not all the cinemas are being used currently, just wish they weren't so behind in the movies they showed.
Still, I live in Al-Waab an have been waiting for a while, am very happy the have finally opened!
No more laps around City Centre car park!!
Finaly, the answer to the question :O)_
Next ... How is it ?
we're there in villaggio last night and i'ts already open.
why not go to city center, landmark and gulf cinema while the villagio cinemas are not open yet..
Saw Surrogates this evening, movie was ok, but it was great since I live near by and not have to drive around for 20 minutes in City Centre looking for a parking spot.

What happened to Gulf Cinema? Doesn't anyone watch movies over there now???
"Ali Baba and 40 thieves" are now "Ali Baba and 30 thieves" ; 10 were laid off.

chmb, I agree again ... :o)
There is a difference between good kids, and kids who do what they want running around free without being told otherwise , ofcourse - I just meant that these kids can be in any of the cinemas.
I defenitely agree kids are kids. But there are different btwn 'good kids' and 'spoiled brats' ...
It doesn't matter what cinema you go to - kids are kids, and you can't control which ones would go to which cinema. The type of kids doesn't depend on the cinema.

fubar, i like the most cinema in CC ... but parking is always a pain ...
no more movies for me, will just rent/buy the DVD and watch it at home.
besides ... i am out of here shortly, so I can stop whinning about Doha :o)

hey,I think it's called "Villaggio" not villagio,or villageo
is the last date I heard for the Villagio Imax to open.
Royal Plaza cinema is small.. my husband and I tried watching movie there once and both decided not to go back there again..
Its an IMAX, vibrating seats etc, wind simulation so im told, not all the cinema is tho, just a part of it..
Or am I imagine it?
You can't teach experience...
The cinema and IMAX theater are due to open soon!! Sorry, it's not much I know, but it's the best I can do.

I'll just go to Royal Plaza and Villagio...
You can't teach experience...
life is not a destination, it always had been & always will be a journey.....
dunnooo !!!
i hvnt been to CC for months now ... but i think Alexa told me she havent been there for years.
Parking in CC is a pain ... give me villagio anytime.
vegas, parking at CC becomes worse day after day...
Once i was looking for the parking spot for 35 minutes... on WEDNESDAY in the middle of the working day!!
eventually I gave up and drove away. I said i will never go back to CC, go to hell ...
poor people who enrolled into the new GYM there.. where the hell they suppose to park???

HE WHO DARES WINS
opening cinema in villagio is going to take time
Erasmus, have you been to the one in Royal Plaza?
You can't teach experience...
it is only a question
Villaggio Cinema...there are other cinemas in Doha...like City Centre Mall, etc why are you so desperate to watch movie in Villagio?
