Hello people,

How's it going ?

So this is my first day in the states after one very short vacation in Qatar :(

I miss home so damn much, didn't realize how hard it's to leave home, family and friends until now ..

Just wana say that no matter where you go,there's no thing like home !

Peace,

OK, we all agree that it’s not easy to be away from family and friends but life for different reasons puts us in that situation.

Just remember that we need to leave, to return. Hang on there, that time will come!

;)

Yes amazingly that's the thing I missed the most too when I went home. It was snowing and raining the whole time I was home. Funny I keep complaining how the winter isn't cold enough here and when I went home I missed Qatar's weather :P

Yes there are violations in my country I won't deny it,there are many things needed to be change, but seriously I can't do anything about it,you guys have a right claim it,raise your voice,or if you have found better opportunity in any other country move out.

I think this thread was meant to express how much I miss home,I totally respect the points you made but I think they can be as a new thread to discuss it fairly and accurately.

Thanks for contributing

Qatari-femme and Jon,

Obviously I am not one of the laborers that get 400QAR/month.

The fact that I am happy with my situations doesn't mean that I feel sorry for the exploitation generally observed in your country and on the other Gulf countries.

The attitude of pretending that their problem is not a problem is what maintains the situation similar to what it was centuries ago!

Nowhere in my comments had I said life is miserable for all in Qatar. All I said is that the sufferance from being away from family and friends added to their miserable salaries and life conditions, is quite a price to pay, don't you agree?

Moreover, Qatari-femme, how can you compare the salaries that Mexican migrants make to the ones laborers and maids make here in the Gulf region?! I wish (and believe me it’s not for my own personal benefit) that all laborers here in the Gulf, would make as much money as the Mexican migrants in the US!

Do you guys understand now what I am trying to say? How can a Nation be at peace with themselves and God when they exploit so many Human Beings?

Now I do empathize with you, it’s never easy to be away from our families and friends, but don’t you think that your situation as well as mine, are quite easy when compared with these poor people?

I just wish that your country would be the leader in changing the abusive situation. For sure Qatar would be praised and remembered forever by the entire world as the nation who contributed to dignify laborers and maids' lives in the Gulf!

Until then, Qatar is seen by the world, along with other Gulf countries, a state that allows modern slavery.

Those labors before coming here has contracts that states everything, I mean seriously you think they're in crappy situations ?! Look at the Mexican workers here in the states they are doing worse!

Besides, NO ONE is forcing anybody to stay in Qatar,if you don't like it fine leave and move on with your life,no big deal, right?!

I totally understand some improvement needs to be made in terms of the wages, and other conditions, but please don't stereotype and generalize the idea that we enslave our workers, if you have seen individual incidents that does NOT mean that ALL Qataris are mis-treating their workers!

King_qatar,

I absolutely agree with you.

It is urgent as no rich country, besides the Gulf wealthy countries, pay miserable salaries that can go as low as 400QAR, less than 5 US$/day (if they work 6 days a week!!!!!).

Only slaves get these salaries and only greedy heartless people pay them when they could afford paying decent salaries like other wealthy western countries pay!

yes we must increase the laborers salaries,, and we also must cut down salaries of those who get more than they deserve, they have no jobs at home and when they come here they get to live in guarded compounds by those poor laborers and get their free cars cleaned and maintained by those guys again, get thier cheap oil in thier fancy cars by those poor laborers ...

those people invented abuse of poor people, ruled these countries and even used those people to fight thier.

sure we need robin hood

Now you guys understand the unfortunate laborers and maids that build and maintain your country.

Not only they are far away from their families, homes, friends and countries but they have a miserable life here in Qatar getting peanuts in exchange for their huge sacrifices and harsh life!

That is why I think that Qatar and the Gulf in general should increase the salary of these people to same level that they would get in western wealthy countries (after all the gulf countries are wealthier!).

They should get at least 1000 US$ / month.

Every dollar not paid from that amount will contribute to the employer's path to hell!
