Company change the offer after signed
Hi guys,
Thanks for your helping.
Two days After signed offer , the company sent me an mail inform me, they will decrease the offer because country released a new labor law rules and this rules will decrease the offer!
now my head like a balloon, Have many questions needs to answers:
- are they have a right to apply this change after I signed the offer, specially this decrease about 1500 QR
OR
- should stick with my old offer
OR
- should rethink again about this new offer
Thank you so much for all of your opinions, really i appreciate your support.
just small thing I want to clarify, they did not change the basic salary, actually they cancelled the transportation allowance only, according to the new labor law, of course after this cancellation salary will decrease about 1500QR, but this new rule appear after I signed the job offer.
what do you think, this is out of their hands and should I accept it or they have own ways to solve this issue.
Also that's happening on government organizations in Doha these days, it is happen with one of my friend also he don't know what is the best solution to this situation.
Thanks
There is no such new labour law which allows the Employer to reduce the salary after the agreement has been signed. Send them a letter or e-mail and ask them to send the part of the new labour with the clause they are mentioning and if they are (the will not be able)sending it then tell them that you are sticking with the original agreement and refuse to change any clauses in the agreement.
Ya, the offer is nothing the employment contract is the basis.try to stick with the offer before signing the employment contract,if they"ll need you they"ll hire you.
first, i will advise you not to join this company because they are not respecting thier offers.
second i am sure that even you insist to get the old offer which is your right, and u have to do it, i am sure this company will have a problem in giving you and our people working with them thier rights, like delay in the salary pay, not increase, it is bad managment company. leave them and do not join.
I agree that the original offer should be honoured, but many offer letters also include a clause that the offer is conditional on the new employee being granted a resident visa. I imagine that if the company is unscrupulous enough to back out of their original offer, they wouldn't be beyond not processing the residency properly, getting it denied, and then the new employee has nothing.
I also agree that a company cannot just change an offer once given. The date of validity is mentioned in the offer letter,if within that period you have signed and handed it over then no problem.Just go ahead and ask them to give you details of the new rule.Fair and square.
Best of luck .
offer means nothing, it's the employment contract that counts.
I agree, a contract is binding once it has been signed. What you may want to do to somewhat appease your new company is to ask them to provide you with the official clause/Article in the "new Labour Law" that the company is referring to(which they claim allows them to decrease your salary after singing the contract). You could also suggest that both parties go to the Labour Department with the signed contract in hand to get a ruling from the Labour Department on the company's request. My guess is that the company will cease to ask for this increase with this subtle threat to go to the Labour Department.
Stick to the offer you signed.
By the way which new Labour law grants the permission to decrease salary? I have heard of none.
