I have a female friend who is leaving in January to take a teaching contract in Qatar for three years. What would be a useful portable gift to give her?

a umbrella - big one for the sun not rain!!! and a green plant to see every day!!!
Plenty of pork products? Where is the respect for local culture in that? If people are that desperate for pork products then perhaps they shouldn't be coming to a culture such as that of Qatar.
Nerve pills to survive the driving on these roads
give them socks, underware, toliet paper, flipflops, cool hat, arm deorderant, toothpaste/brush. Or any thing that may be expensive there thats cheaper where they are.
your friend may not be into sex but just incase give condoms I hear there is a lot of prositution there and expats looking for love.
