Here in Qatar it happened to me more than one time, I went to the hair dresser and while waiting I speak with the burber and the person who is sitting, and then suddenly I find that the person who was sitting payed for himself and for me.
I was speaking about football or some local issues, is not this act what the sitting man did is some kind of great generousity?
Did any one faced such a situation?

But can you tell me why all people agree with each other agrees on the good habits, but have arguments when they speak about bad habits?

whyteknight, I've always wanted to start or have a Qatari start a QL thread on Qatar/Arabic habits, culture, socialites...etc. Equally, I keep backing down knowing it'll turn to mud slinging and stone pelting.

SA nobody is interested in the good habits I guess, try posting bad habits of Qataris and you will get more response :P

When we go to reastaurant for dinner we never let the same gy pays every time, but we do it alternative, this weekend I pay, next weekend you.

We do not feel comfortable if the same person keeps paying every time.

Also many Qatari families do not allow their guests to go without dinner.

I've never been given a free haircut......:(

Anyway, I think it was meant as a sign of generosity, a little amount of money meant as a token.

I've done this before, with 2 new friends, I paid for their drinks, and we've never met again.

I want my money back...lol

Some hair dresser will take 10 QR and some will take 20 QR.

At some hotels hair dresser will take between 80 QR to maybe 100 QR and this was told to me by a firend.

Maybe it's common among men, but not women that's for sure!

Olive, you will look awesome on your wedding, I'm sure.

Back to the topic, I don't think this is a common Qatari habit to pay for someone else's haircut.

Just thinking that Happy Happy. Can't imagine a woman doing this seeing as how much our hair costs!! But then again, for men it's only 10 QR, so it's just a nice gesture. Smile and say thank you very much.

By Straight Arrow• 27 Apr 2010 11:10

personally I will not do it for some one I meet for the first time, but for a friend I will do why not.

By Happy Happy• 27 Apr 2010 11:07

He's not your friend, he's a stranger. Why should he pay for you?

I know you guys don't pay much for your haircut, yet I think it was meant as a nice treat, after you had a nice chat.

I hope you've got a chance to thank him.

By Straight Arrow• 27 Apr 2010 11:03

do not pay.

So why to make fight on this?

...Maybe it's meant as a nice gist, like a treat. It's a bit strange though.

As for me, no stranger has ever paid my hairdresser's before, and I won't let them, unless she was a friend, then I'd pay her back.
