Shawarma, Shawarma, Shawarma
By munozchick •
Ok first of all, I have NEVER tasted shawarma as good as they have in Bahrain. The "Shawarma Alley" had so many little shops that sell teh same tasting...but WONDERFUL shawarma.
I have yet to find anything that comes close to the shawarma in Bahrain. There are so many different kinds here. None of them taste the same. So, I have given up on finding good shawarma in Qatar.
What is everyones favorite Shawarma place here?
There was a resturant called Al reef al Lebnani ( Lebnaon countryside ) they made the best Garlic shawrma you could ever imagine , but they closed like 5 yrs ago :( never tasted good shwarma again ..
they were in al naser street dunno if they shifted somewhere.
the best swarma in al azizya in rifai al turkey or ash al bulbul resturent
al-enabi has the best shawarma in Qatar, its past al- waab petrol station.
If you would like to try the best chicken sandwich in Qatar (no joke), on al nasr street or mirgab (its the same thing) theres a cafe called speednet right next to the family food. go inside and order a "Shishtawook sandwich"
I guarantee you, you will forget all about the shawermas in bahrain after trying this. It has been rated as the best chicken sandwitch in qatar.
I'm so glad to find that it's not only me that feels this way!
The shawarma in Bahrain are all about being cheap & tasting great.
The rubbish out here is all about being expensive & "fancy".
Shawarma meat shouldn't be a light colour. It should be darkened by all the herbs & spices in it.
bu9ala7 anyone?
After reading all these posts about the shawarma in Bahrain, now I came to know why they are building that bridge to like Qatar - Bahrain.
They can call it Shawarma Bridge.
:)
and Quortubah.
i like both...
try also the TAKE AWAY version in Al sadd.
happy eating!
Bahrain DOES have the best Shawarma ever. I've tried it in many countries.
They also have the best tikka (Arabic Tikka not Indian Tikka).

btw, people,FYI,the so-called "turkish shawarma" is a misnonmer, there is no such thing,it tastes good @ marmama & a couple of other places in town & i enjoy it myself but it's called doner kebab, shawarma is NOT traditional Turkish food,so if we're truly discussing shawarma, only the other Arab type of shawarmas actually qualify...

I must agree :P
hi

i would agree with u the meat they use here is all frozen nothing is fresh in these restaurants....so dont go for the taste u will never find it in doha but i have some tatsted some really gud shawarma in dubai abudhabi and india.......in australia also they make good shawarma atleast these are the places i know off but i have stopped looking for good outlets myself but i like the one inear the montazah al meera.......

Yeah Gor1986 is right. Al-arabi is the best one. Marmara is fine too

Al Nasr St. there's a Place Called " Abo-el3araby" Try the shawerma there and tell me what u think :)
Ciao
check out the restaurant near Al-meera ,ALrayyan branch,
quite clearly, nobody on QL seems to know the REALLY good shawarma places in Qatar,& i'm not going to be the one to let out the secret...*wink*!! a true shawarma lover will keep searching till they find that one place that they enjoy...happy searching!!!
well guys trust me the best lebanese shawarma is located at the beginnin of al nasr street in the alreef lobnani restaurant,im almost completed 1 year in qatar nd i tried many places making shawarma here bt this restaurant was really amazing..just try it ull never regret taking it every time
U have to try Istambul in Abu Hammour petrol station! Yummmy x
The best Shawaram, I ever had is at ALQUDUS restaurant, between Souk Aldeera and Souk Alahmad, 2 blocks behind QNB in the cornesh area. Also, they have the Best Falafel Sandwishes. They do Sandwishes ONLY. give it try.
I know this topic is old but haven't you checked out Turkey Central (Turkey Restaurant, dunno the exact name) yet? It's where I've tasted the most delicious shawarma so far. Just that they're kinda slow but it's worth the wait when you eat the food.
i think i am starving :)
For me is Meshawi al Arabi in Frij Al Anser They make Qatar's Legend "Hamr" or "Humer"
Talking about shawarma, the way it is being cooked, directly in the flame. U see, as what I think and experienced, gas cylinders used here smells like S**t. I mean, literally. The smell of qatar's gas cylinders contents smells like, u know wat.
Im sorry for the inconvenient truth here dudes. I myself eats shawarma from time to time since I'm always on the go/rush. I often needs a quick fix for hunger. But the thing is, as this health concern came to my mind, does the shawarma here in Doha cooked properly? Just needs a good output from you guys since as of now I am even NOT thinking of giving up eating shawarma. yum yum w/ Pepsi.;P
Live Life free of worries
We tried shawarma at Barbar...no, not a real one.

you got it right shawarma here in bahrain still running as the best. you just answered my upcoming question if i could find the legacy taste we were enjoying here in bahrain for years! but when i move to qatar well for sure I will miss bahrain a lot!
sharwarma is good in mandareen & barbar restaurents.also qurtubah restaurent has very tasty shawarma.
I have to be honest with you. I have never bought or eaten shawarma ever since qatari posted that cannibalism news and in the end asked "what was inside the sharwarma last night?" or something to that effect. Can't get the picture out of my mind everytime I see a sharwarma station. Blame it on qatari! :)
I miss it too,and ya the best one is in syria and lebanone I tried Barbar here but it is not good like the one in Lebanon also i can say Al Faroj shop in AL Nassar street makes good ones but not like Syria or Lebanon but u can try it and see.
who ever wants to find the real shawarma, I advise to search for a chief from Alippo(Syria). every chief from Alippo make it on his way, but nobody can say it is not the best. every one is the best. and for evrey bodies info the best restaurents in the middle east have chiefs from Alippo, In Syria, Lebanon and Gulf countries.
but if u go Alippo u will descover so many different food and u will forget Shawarma.
Best regards.
one of the best places is "Marmara Istanbul"
Australia send live sheep to the middle east they aren't frozen. sure, they are beaten and mistreated but not frozen!!
The meat generaly have bad test cause always imported as frozen meet, that what make the test and smell bad
the KFC,Hardez,chilis,.... all generaly dont have the original test on meat meal,my advice to get chicken always that what i do
i had mutton shawarma the otherday from petra at FFC, i must admit it was good, better than what i expected.
i am too sensitive to meat smells and this one didnt have the funny fat smell.
anyone want to give it a try? you may just like it :-)
happy heart
drive safe because someone is waiting for you at home
I didn't need to know that suhail
form what i've heard many restaurants that prepare shawarma use meat imported from China instead of fresh meat. Here the motto is maxmize profit with least investment.
i found lately the most delecious shawirma resturant in doha till now ,it is new open ,neside Mandareen resturan,to whom dont know Mandareen, just ask for ramada traffic light
and it is price also cheep comparasion to doha prices, have also a nice place to sit on,with alot of menue options and coctel drink
i dont make a marketing adv,but you should try it
Shawarma phenomenon ....... lol
totally with you on that one e46.
i had good shawarma only in abudhabi....just dislike having it here.
weekends,u tend to have a heavy meal so we like to have a shawarma in the evenings...simple yet tasty.........but have given up on it now.the meat stinks of fat or god knows what and the chicken just does not taste good.
happy heart
drive safe cos someone is waiting for u at home
Guys I hate to put a dampener on your appetite for shawarma which is no doubt delicious when made properly.
Unfortunately all the shawarma I've tasted here doesn't measure up. The secret's in the meat. They use rubbish meat here, cheap.
When you go to places like Syria, Lebanon and Jordan and eat shawarma or even grills at the right place you're getting quality stuff.
Unfortunately the restaurants here are in it for the buck and they'll use the cheapest meat available.
novita77, if you were in amman, and you like to eat a very very nice shawirma, then ask about :
'aldae3a' , if you want to eat a big meal with your friends it is the beast, it has more than 4 branches over amman
and 'Reem' if you want to have a very delecious and traditional shawirma sandwish mmm
butterfly, why dont courrage your neighbour to open a resturant, i will be the first customer for sure
She does the best shawarma and the best everything! Mmmm
Ok, also there is a little place in the AlMeera in Almuntazah that does delicious chicken shawarma.
We walked around downtown in Amman. And had shawarma by the road side. It was delicious. Very different with the taste of Shawarma in Qatar.
One of the place I prefer for Sharwama is the "Marmara" ,which is right after the TV Roundabout as you are heading towards Hamad hospital.I know the taste may not be the same what you used get in Bahrain but it is pretty good, try and let me know!
Then you should test the shawirma which maked in jordan or syria
it is imaginable, you cant forget it is test
i dont miss any thing here as much as missing the shawirma, qatar
shawirma is not good badly !!
