one thing you want to change in Qatar..

Kwan
By Kwan

if you were asked about that one thing that you want to change in the society you are living, what will you say?

I know we are all from different countries, but are tied by a single thread 'residents of Qatar'. And one go to make a point, legitimate one, whe you see something wrong. So, what is that one thing you want to change in Qatar?

with one thread i answered a while back, make it a pre-requisite to all employees to have "authenticated" documents so there is no problem being under-qualified or over-experience in job/position applied for.

what you really want is for Qatar to be like any other western country!

that's what you mean when you talk about bringing Ikea, and teaching the driving, and plantig trees, and women's way of dressing..

If you want that, then go somewhere else!

I would change all the silly paperwork we expats have to do when doing something so simple, like going away for a Holiday, or changing your job.

all the money and resources in the world. they can build the tallest building and artistic landscapes and they want to compete with Dubai...

NOT!

NOC's, Sponsorship, Exit permits. Things that money cant solve. Those are the things that made Qatar look PRIMITIVE compared to Dubai. with these, its impossible to go head to head with Dubai.

Electric is right. We are in a modern world.Maybe at 100yrs from now.Theyre keeping wearing hajib. And they are Landlords who used to slave us,Thay cancelled us eventhough we're end of contract. They should release us.

There one thing he missed also.To change the mind of the people that theyre are thinking they are powerful here. And also be fair in salary. The person who has bigger salary is the person who did nothing. There are lots of things to be change here.iT should become first in the mind of the people living here.good topic..LOL!

I would change the sponsorship/visa regulations. It's modern slave trading.

I would have government policy to change the way people drive in Qatar. It is dangerous and not necessary. There are plenty of good examples from other countries; the Qatari government can afford to bring in expert help to educate their traffic planning/traffic police and roads department. DO IT please.

I would encourage the women not to wear the hajib, it is very intimidating. When one cannot see another person's face or expressions how can you be friendly towards them.

I would educate the nationals to be more open to mixing with other nationalities in their country.

I would make pork available for those who want it, even if by licence like the liquor warehouse.

I would encourage IKEA to open a store here.

I would bring in a lot more soil and plant loads of grass and trees.

I would build more 'village' type areas in the city in order to develop more community spirit.

I would like to see more traditional music and world music concerts in Qatar

I would like to see continuing interest in historical aspects of Qatar (what is left), and development of Arabic cultural enterprises, not Islamic (keep religion out of things).

I would like to see less emphasis on religion in the world in general, it has been and continues to be the cause of so much strife, death and wars in the world. Why should we hate each other because we don't believe in the same things. If I like blue and you like red, should I hate you? If I lke rock music and you like Country & Western, should I hate you? The answer to this is education - a broad and international education and less extremism.

I like this country and I'd love to see it become a wonderful model of a truly international state.

This country has not much to live for for the rest of your life with your family at present. Not even places to visit. Weather ain't good. There's no historical integrity. People spend more on worthless things. Arabs'll still treat you badly. Master-slave mentality will still sink all the achievements Qatar has to offer for world recognition even if they can spend plenty for development. By the time Qatar is well-developed, I'm probably dead at that time with my grandchildren all grown up and married.

In spite of a very rich country like Qatar, nobody beats back home in spite of its lesser commodities. My place has had historical preservation for centuries and plants and trees everywhere. Seeing Qatar only made me love my country even more.
