Made in... Australia?

This video irritates me every time I see it... I know it was 2006 but I was just sent the link to it, again, and asked how it was like. Well, it was like nothing Asian or Qatari at the opening ceremony just a bad rider and an Australian horse trained by foreigners as they couldn't get any of their own horses to do the trick. It's just my private opinion but if you organize the Asian Games in your country at least the opening ceremony should symbolize Asia. If you don't have any good horses and riders over there (the majority at the competitions were European horses) then figure out something else for the opening ceremony that reflects your culture...

I love horses & can give lecture on horse species.

This is purely Arabian Horse...

Only Arabian Horses have such power..

No matter who ever the trainer is, but he can never train such thing to any other horse specy than Arabian Horse...

Arabian-Horse do exist in other parts of the world than Arabian Peninsula, but actuually English man took this specy from Arabian Peninsula & increased this specy at large scale in there areas.

Even if this specy is not trained, it can run & enter into any battle with power & no fear that no ardinary rider can Handle it. It shows that how Brave this rider is, who handle this Horse with great bravery.

One of the most thrilling things I've ever seen! Still gives me chills when I watch it.

Thanks for posting this video. Even though I've watched it a thousand times, I could watch it a million more.

beeseh - you obviously weren't at the opening ceremony if you don't think it had an Asian/Arabic/Qatari theme. I suggest you buy the DVD and watch it before passing judgement.

And you clearly have no idea about Arabian horses. Nearly every modern breed of riding horse around the world can be traced to an Arabian bloodline.

Please stop spreading your hate of Qatar and Qataris on this site. The sooner the moderators ban you the better.

The company that did it was Australian, yes, but it was totally put together in Qatar. I thought it was fantastic myself.

It was sheer exicitment...that day....

beeseh ...I think you dont play sports.....since you couldnt grasp the effort made by both the horse and the rider!!!

I wonder if there will ever be an Asian Games or Olympics Game where someone from the ruling family attempts such a feat!!!

The horse was taken to Australia to practice on the mountainous terrain there as Qatar doesnot have a mountain yet ;)......though there are plans to build a man-made one!!!

Any fall from a horse is dangerous ....and a fall from that height would be unimaginable.....also the rain made the ramp slippery.....a lot of menally strong people would have abandoned the attempt....

As long as the Asian Games live the prince's attempt will be part of it......thats something he earned....and something nobody can take away!!!

I ride horses, occasionally, and I'd like to let you know that:

1- This is a pure-bred black Arabian horse, not Australian.

2- The rider charged up the horse gracefully and courageously to the end.

3- Weather conditions made the ramp slippery.

Two thumps up and thanks for reviving this lovely performance and event.

Salam

p.s. no need to link to liveleak for this awesome video, there are many copies from different angles, and in many Asian languages on youtube.

without even knowing the other side of the story, the author had the gust to say such negativity??

you should have been there to witness the thrill despite the shivering wetness of the night...

had you been there, i doubt if you can still say that.

it was actually a spectacular ascent despite the slippery rain drenched steep long ramp!!

the excitement still brings shrivers to my spine everytime i recall the momentous experience!

btw, i sat almost beside that ramp ...

and still keeping with me the brown treasure

box full of audience participation stuffs ;)

I was there on the opening night. I thought it was awesome, consider the weather and the horse nearly slip in the ramp, The Prince still managed to go all the way to the top and finished the mission lighting up the torch.

beeseh,

We have already established that you hate Qatar and the Qataris.

This does reflect our culture, you would know if you opened your eyes.

Did you see it???

It was an awsemone night, wet and cold and they pulled it off inspite of negativity.

So what the horse was not trained by them!! The horse and the rider did well.

Stop being a twat.

I will hoist that up the flag pole and see who salutes it!!
