Household helpers need help

If the employer attempted to rape his household helper, where she can get help? Will the qatar government help the maid? If the maid run away, the employer can make up stories that could put the maid in jail. If the maid resigns how many days can she leave her employer and what are the fees she need to pay to her employer. Can the maid sue her employer for attemted rape?

Is this the culture of men in the middle east?

So one cannot sue for simple physical assault, it must be sexual? If someone attempts to rape someone else, there must be some physical contact and constraint. Can one not sue someone for attacking them or hitting them deliberately?

As for it being one of the first questions? Was it? We only have the info from the OP - it may be a poor second, or third option but given how sexual assault or attempted sexual assault victims are treated here (and elsewhere in societies where the victims are often blamed rather than the assailant) it may be the less evil option

when someone who is so hurt by their friend being a victim of 'attempted rape' why would one of the first questions be can we sue? sounds like a load of tosh to me.

someone mentioned justice vs financial gain - as assault is often a matter of he said she said and, let's be honest, the assailant is often not punished very severely if at all, suing the assailant may actually be more punitive than the assault laws.

Hit someone significantly in the pocket book sometimes "hurts" more than what the laws against assault permit.

Look at the OJ Simpson case, he beat a murder charge but was held responsible for his wife's death in a civil case.

And this is one good reason why we need to do away with the sponsorship system. Development is not only about the large buildings and the big projects that we want the world to see but also includes respect for the dignity of the workers and their well being

yeah they happen in other countries too, but other countries has better way of helping these poor girls.. so she can go to Capital Police and register a complain and then she could go back to her employer house, and then her employer will know she had a complain, and then what will her employer do???

Financial gain? what can you gain in here? I dont know bout what you think, but most of the people working like these comes from the farthest part of the country, which means they are not "professional" in fooling other people or using other people just to get money...

I wish she is lying, but then if it is true, i know she could not get any help, especially in the middle east, She have been warned not to go, but I guess nos she knows...

strange that one of your questions is if she can 'sue' him, would you not want to see the person jailed or is this just for financial gain?

i believe such isses happen all over the world, not in Mid. East only, but seems most of expariates here in the Middle East thy just see others faults and not their people.

name one country around the whole world they do not have rape or murder cases ?

and as Immi said many maids/workers they creat such stories, but Capital police can find out this matter easily.

in other hand her story might be true, so she can go to the Capital Police and register a complain against her employer.

What I am waiting? You know my friend who happened to work as Maid nearly raped by her employer. What she could do? If she ran away then her employer can make up stories and then she could be in jail. Her families contacted the agency but said there will be an investigation, but up until now there is nothing being done. If the authorities asked the employer then he simply will denied it. Tell me what to do???

How many more times do we need to hear of them being raped. Sorry, there comes a point were you think...big fat lie.

Im not really an Anti-Arab but it seems to be their culture.

These issue is not new here, it happens everywhere in middle east.

By the way: the best thing you can do is to seek assistance to your respective Embassy.
