Exploring the public libraries of Qatar
Can you help me ? We are looking for a public library in Qatar with a quiet reading room .WE started our adventure at a place which was marked ina Doha map "national library " the building was locked and looked abandonned .Then we went to the Birtish Library .It is open for the public only in the morning .So we went in the morning .It was not quiet at all - it seemed that it was the office of some clerks there using the phone all the time .
We are interested in Khansa library .Somebody was kind enough to give me a telephone number two weeks ago . I keep trying to call that number without any succes - it is not ringing at all .
Have you got any experience on this topic ? I would be so glad to hear that there are some working libraries in this country ..
is open to the public and has close to a million books. Try there.
http://yadiin.blogspot.com/ oh, it seems to be complicated. they are not encouraged by their employers to have more and more readers ?I really wonder how it is here . They do not answer the phone etc .
khansaa library (only for women!), is located somewhere opp to peninsula newspaper's office. they have got quite a good collection, but again its of no use tryin to reach them over the phone. n also if u r plannin to visit them, they r open only in the mornings. when i went there, for membership purpose they ask for some letter frm ur employer n all. n the timing wasn't convnenient for me, so i just dropped it.
