Dress code for Aqua Park Qatar
Local newspapers today featured an ad by Aqua park Qatar advising visitors that suitable swim wear must be worn at all time, in addition to "no denim, buckles or braces". Followed by an advisory caution that local culture must be respected (the peninsula page 02)
This comes after many locals complaining over local media about indecent attire worn by foreigners at Aqua park Qatar including an Outraged Qatari woman calling in the popular local radio talk show " my beloved country, good morning" two days ago expressing her anger towards foreign women who wore " swim wear" to the Aqua Park!!!

1:kindly wear all polyester clothes, denims or other kind of pants would not be appropriate as you would be stuck in the rides....believe me it happened and i got so claustrophobic
2:men please apply sunscreens as they would ask you to take off your shirts for conserving the chlorine levels in water
3:if you havent taken the polyester clothes be prepared to spend 100 riyals on each
4:dont miss the fountain splash in the swimming pool in the evening around 7 pm...you can actually see rainbows ..sometimes more than one at night......simulated monsoons in india...
every female who think it is OK to wear swimsuits or bikini, please post photos in swimming suits or bikini online for us to check, since it's perfectly normal attire.
A day for men only? What happens if a family (Husband, wife, daughter, son) wants to enjoy the park? The dad and son go on Friday, the wife and daughter go on Saturday???
Seriously??
The pool at Qatar Foundation's rec center had a sign that shows what swimwear is acceptable. Basically, no two pieces, thongs or speedos.
I realize I need to respect the local culture, but I think there needs to be a little give and take for each side.
Heck, in Florida, how many people wear t shirts over swimsuits or swim shirts because of the sun?
I sure see a lot of Brits on our beaches with t-shirts over badly sun burned arms.
and this is burka for men
brit, it can be used on the aquapark football field after playing whipping water games
Kinky..
is the bodice latex ??
Will you bring a whip ?
I am ready for the Aquapark:
When in Rome, do as the Romans do :)
Why so much of discussion? Must be gentlemen (!!) were looking at scantly clad women and wives got angry - ha ha ha ha ha ha

you seem to think that we in the west, or the UK as you are seem to be specifically targetting them, are able to change the mind set of people...
"and the breed you are talking about, the british muslims, they are product of you ppl... whts so islamic is in them??
making adultry and drinking a fun,
shortning women clothes
all these and such things are transformed by you ppl which was not even there in many beliefs..."
Lol, you give us far to much credit...
You are not giving the westeners on this forum a very good impression of Arabs or Muslims - what you are making out is that Arabs or Muslims don't think for themselves and aren't very bright - (I have Arab/Muslim friends that wouldn't be impressed with you either for giving that kind of view of them) you are also giving us the impression that Arabs and Muslims can be led around by their noses and cannot make their own decisions...
So, just to clarify, if all the Britons decided to commit suicide by jumping of London Bridge, would the Muslims, who knows its Haram in Islam, join them?
Think carefully before you answer...
am good thanks... Hope you are well!
'omershah said nic / adey / ukeng...... ...
islam is not a bible which u can change according to ur wils, desires and dirty mindsets..... there is no possibility tht we could alter any thing which disrespect anyone.. the things which needed to be altered are done already according to the needs of today's world
and the breed you are talking about, the british muslims, they are product of you ppl... whts so islamic is in them??'
and if you read my post, I spoke about morals.... clearly you cannot grasp the concept...
Cryspy, the reason we didn't reply to the thread you have posted, is because most of us couldn't give a flying feather what the Pope chooses to do at the Vatican... thats his decision... unlike if it was a Muslim that was being denied entry, we wouldn't hear the end of it...
When will you all learn to live and let live? If it doesn't affect you directly, who gives a toss?

No worry mate
Bush were have same idea, and now Obama too believe on that ;)
XXXPAT
i was expecting U to get offended with NIC & Omar :(
I think Pakistan is full of Bas****s. In fact, I would go so far as to say you are one ;)
Would you like it if I say your Quran was made up by a man who said whatever he pleased and millions of people have been foolish enough to follow him? When you promote your religion by attacking someone else's religion, you can expect to be attacked back. And then, true to form you will run crying to the mods or start a riot and kill someone in your own country.
When you disrespect women in our cultures, someone will always come back and point out how badly many of you treat women in your own culture. Why do you think so many Pakistani women have immigrated to the UK and none of us have immigrated to Pakistan.
What comes around, goes around, you ignorant wanker.
why don't U guys have a problem with this news
http://www.qatarliving.com/node/1386231
didn't see U ranting there.
the whole basis for the dress code is based on what?......Yes, that's right, a religious perspective.....they are inextricably mixed - cause and effect.
I have only been talking exclusively about dress codes whilst swimming.
:)
about what? :)
Firstly, what has marriage got to do with the dress code at the Aqua Park?
Secondly, you make it appear that 'Ur ppl' - I take it you mean UK citizens - are somehow out of step with the rest of the world, and that Islamic value countries are numerous; Fact- non-Muslims make up 80% of the worlds population.
And please tell me how many Islamic value countries decide to have a dress code forbidding normal swimming costumes in an Aqua Park?
Your position is in a infinitesimally small percentage in the World, a very small percentage in the Islamic World, a minority in Qatar and, I dare say, a minority amongst Qataris themselves. You are out numbered hugely.
genesis and nick... u ppl r right at tht but lets c who started the mess??
i stayed back unless others started to do the things which i carried with my views...
xena, i never went into christianity or islam, its about the morals, its badluck, tht sm of these ppl r stuck in the country where their ways r not in practice that much... i just try to justify that,,, if they r not happy they should leave, as if i was not obviously i would not have been arguing on QL every day, criticizing the govenrment, the laws, the cultures and the religions.. i would rather choose to leave..
for me, my morals dnt allow me, even being a man, to go out showing my body in public... its all about thinking..
may Allah show all of us the right way...
genesis,
I think most of the world in the XXI century, supports you on this one.
Just because i believe that people of other cultures can wear what they like, that doesn't make me a less Muslim...
Again, this is a water theme park. The proper attire in this case is a swim wear.
the only reason you people think the west is 'sodom & gomorrah'... is because you people believe you are the only 'right' ones...
According to you, Islam is the be all and end all of civilisation....
Well guess what, I believe Christianity is....
But the difference between you people and the west is that we allow people to think for themselves and don't use indoctination to force people to believe anything...
I suppose we'll have to wait to see which one is right!!!!
Contrary to popular believe, I would say, if you had to do a survey of people in the west, 90% of the people are moral and live their lives on the right path.... You would probably find that mostly these people are more christian or muslim than you or I, cause they don't over analyse things... they just live life with dignity and morality.... go figure...
for an answer not an argue for whom is immature and ignorant.
man there are some values we people follow, if u dont follow them you should respect them, as we do.
how many times there have been an argue that ppl should follow the rules and regulations of the state they r living in, but still "you people" keep on arguing over it that this is conservative thinking and so on, if it is so then y r u here?
regarding secretly admiring and publicly hating i would say the stats are there to study, to read , to learn and to grow up!!!
thoughts and desires, we could not stop to ponder upon us, wht matters after it is the self control and it comes by the sense of cultures we r living in...
omershah ,
Your simplistic views of the world of “you people” are understandable and forgiven due to your young age and the troubled times in your origins.
Your words are no more than the usual desperate defense and personal attack so common when you have no rational arguments to use.
Grow up, study, read and learn how to interpret the world, not by one, two, few hundreds, selective bad examples, but by the genuine learning and understanding of the civilization you refer to as “you people”, that you so secretly admire and publicly love to hate.
No further discussion with someone at your (ignorant and immature) level.
islam is not a bible which u can change according to ur wils, desires and dirty mindsets..... there is no possibility tht we could alter any thing which disrespect anyone.. the things which needed to be altered are done already according to the needs of today's world
and the breed you are talking about, the british muslims, they are product of you ppl... whts so islamic is in them??
making adultry and drinking a fun,
shortning women clothes
all these and such things are transformed by you ppl which was not even there in many beliefs...
i will give you and example, if u ppl r really sensible enough then u would surely not have an answer,,
what is a marriage??
on a friday of this very month, i met a woman(i will not mention origin, but from one of urz itself), she had 3 kids and told me tht she is still planning for her marriage to get over...
this is culture over there with u ppl...
so then y the concept of marriage was ever introduced if everything can go smoothly without it???
y the word "BAS***D" is there then??
y there are very rare "BAS***DS" in the countries where islamic laws are followed?? its because we have not transformed them according to our desires....
just u ppl can blame , all of u think from ur ass...
Hi, Genesis, it is nice to hear that, you are a forward thinking Muslim.... well done. who cares about this old Quran and Sunnah of Prophet (PBUH)yeah.... it is almost 1500 years old...
let be an advanced muslim, we new generation didnt required this old culture.. Yes brother...
Abaya, beard, Mosque, we should be like the ADVANCED american and European, who wear (ladies only) less dressess shows off everything to everyone... our children also need to go grown up that advanced way...
you are the real forward thinking Muslim dear... welldone..
With all respect, how can one separate the Dress code for Aqua Park Qatar and the sad article posted by Adey, from Islam?
Isn’t it the root cause of the dress code and the father's behavior described in the referred article?
One thing is saying that it’s politically incorrect to discuss the root cause here, the other is suggesting that they are not related.
A frustrated soul showing his frustration against religion.
Can you please create a topic to talk about religion and other things which have nothing to do with the Aquapark? Thank you!!!
Holy Cow !!!...even the Gods don't dress like that ..at home, and in swimming pools
Genesis,
I think you are right and the only common ground between all those schools is?...
Why can't some radical Muslims and others alike reduce themselves to what they are: human beings like all the rest of the world who should practice their religions (all man made) in privacy, just like the others generally do, without imposing it to the public eyes... its just getting too annoying and the world is starting to get fed up of this annoyance.
Nothing against religions, but when they start interfering into values that rule modern societies, its probably time for some action and that is what Europe and its far right parties are doing... indeed the beginning of a dangerous era, yet again because of stubbornness and ignorance of fanatics stuck in paradigms of an uncivilized 7th century society.
For once and for all, can't man kind understand that they are not that so special to have a supreme being inventing a religion for the insignificant human kind (when compared to the size of the universe and probably many other forms of life elsewhere in this universe) which has caused so many unrest in the planet!
but what I find confusing is there is no one in control in totality of the Muslims' doctrines. It seems that every country has it's own rules and procedures they follow. All elders can issue fatwas which are sometimes contradicted by other elders. If it comes from the same book the holy Quran, why so many different interpretations? So who need to follow who and into what extent? Is it really by culture or what? Just asking!
When it comes to ultra conservative dress code for women, it's adopted most by south Asians (most notably by Pakistan & Afganstan). Saudi & Qatar are the only countries in the Arab peninsula that follows the wahabi sect of Sunna .Many women in both Bahrain & Kuwait have abandoned the abbaya since the early 1960'.
The whole gender segregation issue have been causing controversy only in recent years. I think this is due to the wide spread of salafi cleric's fatwa through Internet and satellite channels
Nic/Adey
Agree with you guys :-
There is a new breed of Muslims being produced in Europe and espcially in Britain. This breed of Muslim are the ones who can not relate to the Islam of their country of origin, have now developed a newer version. This new version has become too far right. What I have seen of these new breed they are even more far right then some of the Muslims in the Middleast.
The point I am trying to make here is that since these so called British Muslims cannot associate themselves with other main stream Muslims of the World they are now introducing a new radical form of Islam which I believe will only lead to confrontation in UK and Europe. There are a number of organisation promoting this kind of thnig but I am not going to mention them here as the it will be departing from the topic.
Adey,
This is why the far right parties are growing in Europe.
Some Muslims can't integrate in the core values of Europe, why on Earth they go there?
Some versions of Islam have not catch up with the time where the rest of the world is living.
That wouldn’t be a problem if those stay where these values are still running their societies (mainly in the Arabian Peninsula region); the problem is when they insist in living up to these values in societies that are not willing to go back in time.
This issue might bring in a near future, a hell of a lot of social unrest in Europe, all this in the name of a religion made up by men, just like all the others!
My goodness! I hope she grow up normally!
This was published recently in a local UK newspaper - I would like to know from muslims on QL if you think the father is making up his own rules here. Surely gender seperation starts at puberty in some Islamic cultures - this girl is 5!
Just interested what you think of this man's reasoning.
Thanks
'A FATHER is considering taking his daughter out of a school because of an argument over her being taken swimming with classmates.
Rehan Mirza says he told teachers at William Booth Primary School, Sneinton, that it was against his Muslim beliefs for Zainab Hussain, five, to swim in mixed gender groups and with male staff present.
He has made a complaint to Nottingham City Council's children's services department because she was still taken to the pool at the John Carroll Leisure Centre, in Radford, despite his request.
Head teacher Andy Mattison has offered to meet Mr Mirza to come to an agreement
But he believes parents do not have the right to prevent their children swimming as part of school activities and said children would not be made to swim if they did not wish to.
Mr Mirza, 32, of Finsbury Avenue, Sneinton, said that if his wishes were not respected in future he would find his daughter another school.
"If it gets to that stage I would take her out of the school. I wouldn't think twice," he said. "I won't put my beliefs aside.
"Anyone's religious beliefs should be respected. There should be a moderate agreement between both parties.
"It is not as if we are taking her out of mainstream lessons.
"For religious purposes, we don't want mixed sex swimming sessions for our daughter.
"We have no problem with single sex, female swimming sessions." '

are you saying that the whole park should be closed totally? Because you are talking of two different areas. Observer is talking about the high ride while Alumnar is talking about the lazy river. Wow, that park should be closed totally. It's a shame!
BTW, I am not the owner nor I defend them but I worked before in a project of the same nature back home. Not only this kind of project but other recreational facilities. And really, safety rules should be strictly imposed specifically procedures being implemented. If the guard says "keep your hand closed", you have to do it by words and numbers. because once you go, you are out of their reached 'til you hit the bottom of the ride.
My challenge is still there, get an expert and have it reviewed because it will remain debatable what is safe to your standard and to others?
The Aqua park I was part of the construction team before, it passes all kinds of safety test and yet accidents still happened. I don't want to say the obvious reasons! We should just all be vigilant!
BTW, Observer, are you talking about a particular ride or the whole park itself?
dress code for decency are everywhere say in UAE, at Wild Wadi, Wonderland, Dreamland or at Atalantis Aqua park.
It is the responsibility of each individual to follow and respect the safety and dress code rules.
Safety and security shall be given first priority.
Should have Ladies or expat days is good suggestion to avoid conflict.
Hope u will get well soon Alumnar and thank you for informing us.
Thank god that u came and told us ur story just in time to prove to flor that I haven't build my conclusions on just one accident! indeed its a series of daily accidents happening since before it even opens! when I went to it before it was officially opened 4 people fill down that slide and was hurt in front of my eyes!
Another one happened when my brother in law went there to leave the park to hospital with broken shoulder and 5 days off work!u can read the full story in my other thread.
and now Alumnar went yesterday and she injured her neck in something that should be safe for even kids! the lazy river! if they can't provide safety for this simple ride how can we trust them on that high ones! SO, it doesn't need a safety expert to judge the situations there. Also according to the article on the peninsula newspaper the police visited the ride after that accident and decided that it lack to safety standards! The park owners themselves decided to close that ride as Alumnar said!
SO YES IT IS OBVIOUSLY NOT SAFE. So please, please stop philosophizing on us trying to defend the park as if u were the owner!
Flor, go and have a look at that ride mentioned by Observer - instead of talking off the top of your head. That ramp / ride is disaster waiting to happen. It is so unsafe that it was closed yesterday.
For those who don't believe the Observer or myself, go and visit the waterpark yourselves. I did it and feel that I can avoid serious injuries by staying away from the big rides and not rely on the incompetence and lack of training of the so called 'lifeguards'.
I got injured in the waterpark yesterday. Upon entering the lazy river, the swimming ring we have to sit on turned upside down and I have severe headache and neckpain. The back of my head hit the bottom of the (shallow) water and my neck crunched. I am now wearing a neckcollar. The life guards are a joke, in many cases young girls who can't swim or handle any situation. A hugely built lifeguard slipped down the steps of the pirate area yesterday - and us mums are not allowed on there to help our kids and make sure they are safe????
By 3,30pm yesterday they were still not in place, we had to wait for them from 2pm onwards to go onto the kids pirate play and splash area.
Camara and camaraphones strictly prohibited - they have electronic scanners, so don't even try to take it inside. Bags get throughly checked.
Another thing is: What is the point of having a ladies' only day??? Yesterday was ladies only and most of them sat there all covered up and even went all covered up into the water!!! Is that hygienic for us who use swimsuits? Is the waterpark gonna be one big laundry without washing powder???
but let me know how you rate the safety of the park? Are you in any way have the capacity to judge it objectively or in a POV of someone expert on such structures? Or are you just blowing out of proportion an unfortunate incident which can be avoided if the kid just listen to the guard at the ride?
You keep saying, they should open it if they improve the safety standard, what is this level of standard are you referring to? Are you an expert in such park structure and can tell us what is the level of safetiness we should expect so we won't be in a limbo all the time.
Can you suggest a person who can qualify and certify that the park is safe and that his/her words can be taken seriously?
If the management says it's safe and you say it's not, who should we believe? Who is the authority to certify that this park should be closed indefinitely until such certification of safety is achieved?
Am I now to believed that the park opened without the blessing of the government agency concerned?
@ flor1212: It is healthy to criticize and to point to mistakes! That is what happens in Media all over the world! People have the right to shade a light of what wrong is going on so we can start correcting it! and believe me what we write here reaches who we need to address! my topic in QL reached the owners of the park and made the peninsula to write about the accident after a week of it being published in Arabic newspaper when I was wondering why it was not published in English speaking newspapers! without the media people wouldn't have known about the accidents that happened there and they will not think twice before they take their children to there!! criticism has nothing to do with us being expats! we are talking from the point of that we are part of this community (am living here from 27 years!)So please understand it this way and start accepting the healthy criticism!
@ Speed: well I was so interested to go to the park few months back but after all what happened I decided not to go there until a major change in safety standards happens.
i am with u ,,,!!
and khanan,,,if u have a plan to go there,,,then let's go with all our group friends...and see that place!!
look, this is how it is here...we all know. So let's just leave it...I mean, what's the difference? Leave the park to the locals and those who are happy with what's going on there...all aspects of it.
If you can , go to places where the rules and behaviour are acceptable to you. If you can't, bite the bullet, make your money and go to a place where life is enjoyable to you.
In the meantime, keep your goal in mind and make the best of what you have.
There is a cultural issue here which relates to local kids not respecting the (usually)n Asian ex-pats whose job it is to enforce rules for the safety and enjoyment of all. Just go to the cinema and you will see what I mean. Even of the park is liable, I think things like this will continue to happen until there is a change in culture.
This calls for a weekend in Dubai! :)
They should have created a swimming area which is only for locals. No expatriates is allowed to enter on this area neither see what is inside.
feedback from my circle..
Planning to visit it soon..
is speedo's and a hairy back acceptable or what?
always complaining and crying on QL.
I am sure by now most of you have been to Aqua Park, enjoyed your time and now complaining.
If not, for sure tomorrow you will go, after all these complains... hehehee :-)
make a formal petition to the concerned government agency and maybe, just maybe, all this discussion will eventually stop.
If I just read all the negative comments in this community, I really wonder why there are still many expats here. It seems this country has nothing good to offer! From parks to supermarkets to companies employing thousand of people etc etc. All subject, just all you hear is negative something like this, like that! I don't know what kind of life you have, people! Do you still enjoy living here?
Genesis,
Thank you.
Overall, the breach of trust/confidence/security has been exposed.
There are serious doubts about the venue's safety standards as well as the "criteria" used for the issue of its license.
How can we expect a security guard or even Manager to stop a local boy from taking a ride? I am not trying to be sarcastic...its a reality that we witness everyday, everywhere.
Yes, I agree with you. If you happened to read my previous posts on Aqua park, you'd know I have a reservation about some safety aspects. However, I was also convinced with the park's owner justification on local Radio where he stated that the local kid ignored the lifeguard instructions and took the slide eventually. Such theme parks absolve themselves of responsibility by having a printed guideline which as per the owner's statement is distributed all over the park. Over all ,children safety in an amusement park is also a parents responsibility
Again, this is not a state owned facility, It's a privately owned theme park made for the public. If there was really frequent incidents and serious violation of safety, the place would have been shut down by now :)
I dont think it will work out.1- It is very very expensive.2-Dress code.
If i have to go to aqua part only for a once to just see the things in real and splash for a while than why shoul di pay 200 - 300 qrs for one time wearing appropriate dresses.
Did they studied other Middleeast countries aquaparks...I doubt it..
Genesis,
Countries governed by rule of law, would never transfer the responsibility from a public licensed venue to a child.
Who authorized the opening to the public of a venue with known safety hazardous without the appropriate mitigation measures?
If the child is obese and exceeds the weight/height for a particular slide, who takes the decision to ride a slide? Is it the child?
@ Genesis: even if he was obese he is a kid and he won't be more than 90 KG! Most overweight adults weights a lot more than that! so they all can't ride? and if the guards knew its dangerous then they shouldn't have allowed him to go down under any condition! it's their responsibility especially that he is kid!
WARNING: A KID LOST HIS KIDNEY IN THE AQUA PARK!
That was published on 2 of the biggest newspapers in Qatar on last Wednesday " Al- Sharq Newspaper and Al- Watan Newspaper" and am not sure if it was published in English Newspapers here..
While the kid was sliding he hit an edge so he broke some rips and lost his kidney so now he is in emergency with kidney failure because after he was hit the rescuers drag him on floor like they drag a sheep and they had no treatment place there so they had to take him all the way to Hamad hospital (far far away!) so he will now live with one kidney for the rest of his life just because of those fools who can't design a simple safe aqua park! His father said he will sue the park for that.
where is the lady that said I was "exaggerating??!!"
This wasn't the only accident happened and I warned u guys weeks ago and I knew there is something wrong in the safety measures there.
The Aqua park owner said that the kid was "fat!" and the trainer tried to stop him from sliding but he didn't listen!"
is that a logical reason? the kid is not more than 80 KG so what if a hug man with 110 KG slided down! there is obviously a water balancing problem there! and he have no write to call the kid "fat"! I went there once and in within 15 min I saw 2 people falling and hitting the edge! they postponed opening it and now we are hearing about more accidents!
PLEASE INFORM UR FRIENDS THAT ITS NOT SAFE TO TAKE THEIR KIDS TO THAT PLACE! they have the right to know and not every one heard about these accidents!
http://www.qatarliving.com/node/1304051#comment-1627917
There should be two aqua parks in doha, one with dress code and the other without.
is what makes the park more attractive to visit. No amount of bad publicity will make this park stopped operation (unless a very serious accident that involved loss of lives).
If only for the dress issue, this park is destined to be a hit!
genesis
and why to oppose gender segregation or separate days for local and expats?
As an Arab , will U feel comfortable with ur family all having two pieces bikini's swimming in pool with strangers around???
this is a park where you should all respect the culture of the country.
if not just go to closed beaches at hotels and do what ever you want
I will not agree with you on this one. The boy was obese, not just an overweight. All water theme parks around the world has a weight restriction policy. According to the Aqua park's management, the safe guards warned the boy from taking the slide and yet he insisted. thus, in part i believe that it's not the park's fault alone.
debated? What about the overweight middle aged men who wear speedos? I won't even go to my compound pool for that very reason.
Tolerate??? Who is tolerating whom?
Change has always been greeted with resistance in every society.
lol
Sometimes I feel sorry for the Qataris who can't cope with the changes. They just seem so unable to tolerate change. :(
Having a dress code for an AQUA PARK is like asking him for condom to have sex with a neighbour's wife.
Here's a wheeze..
Have alternate locals and expat days..
and Aqua Parks do not go together... obviously.
I think they stuck the Aquapark out in the middle of nowhere as not to offend anyone! If bare skin offends you, dont go!!
if im a girl.. i will wear
2 piece x 2 piece
swimwear (bra and bikini) outside
longsleeve and leggings inside...
HAPPY ???!!!
lolzz
I will be really worried if I was the investor
That's ok to have a ladies only day so hijabis and nikabis could have their fun too sans hijab. Not just Muslimas but as mentioned by Xena even some non Muslim ladies, prefer "ladies only" days as well for both religious and non religious reasons. However to expect everyday to be "men only" or "women only" is rather far fetched given that today even public beaches have women in bikinis, gender mixing, etc not to mention the malls and what goes on in them very openly. and not quite what the organizers had in mind obviously. So like I said its left to be seen now. Can one have their cake and eat it two..and for those who invested in this project, I wish them all the best! I'm sure they were not naive when they decided on opening such a venue, they may have very well expected all this..and may also very well already have a plan, Inshallah!
Just don't go there. There is nothing anyway. Fake fun as usual.
men and lady only days, I can deal with.... I am quite shy with being in swim suits in front of the men in my own family, let alone strangers...
The Aqua park management team have created FB discussion board for inquires & suggestions
http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=155778621110953&topic=210#!/board.php?uid=155778621110953
As I've predicted in an earlier post, some are demanding now gender segregation (aka men only days) ;)
Have your cake and eat it too. That's what its all about here. Will it be possible? Allahu alim! Personally I have no interest in going there anyways (Doing the tubes in a jilbab just isn't my thing!) except maybe for my daughter and that's not gonna be anytime too soon considering the safety issues not being totally solved yet. I wish all the "conservatives" could do the same and save there blushes! But again to each their own..maybe sliding down flumes featured high on their to do lists =)
I have no problem with shorts and a T-shirt, but what are buckles and braces?
Mandi
Other than Nylon swimsuits, going in those slides with your khadi, langutis or cotton fabrics would pose a problem. Cotton does not allow you to slide freely - infact most probably you would enter the slide tube with your cotton shorts and come out the otherside without wearing anything!!!
This was always going to be a problem - so allas, only male and female day at the water park then!!!! Going without anything is also a problem - your bottom gets scratched it those slides..
Really ataulah.... Thanks for sharing. I should go to see him for a discount then :P
GM for Aqua Park Qatar is Pakistani, so no wonder !
I was at the Sealine Beach Resort yesterday, and there is one Indian (no offense meant) family who came late afternoon and you know what they wear in jumping to the pool, the two kids wore jogging suits and t-shirt while the father wore a long short denim and a white sando. The mother in full clothes never went to the pool but stayed at the side dipping her baby with the help of the father! Be at it may, they also enjoy the pool!
Welcome back ummjake, I really missed your witty posts :)
Well, I don't think this will satisfy the conservatives, As some believe that this dress code is also revealing! Not to mention the whole " gender mixing" issue
I think the conservative locals will not be satisfied until the Aqua park management implement gender segregated days.
Lolzzz flor..... Sometimes QL takes too much time to load the page...poeple would see the post before you are able to edit it :o(
???????Lost somewhere? Heheheheheeh!!!
Sorry... Wrong Thread :o(
they should look at it in the business side view. An investment like this is not small!
I think the Aqua Park was a "before time" project. Changing mindsets take decades, not a few years. Qatar is progressing & a bit of liberalization would take some time to be part of locals' mindset. The situation may not be the same after three or four years. I am not for adapting foreign cultures but the locals would have to accept a little bit of change in their approach towards expatriates & their cultures.
Here's a crazy thought for the conservatives, if you don't like it DON'T GO!!
gud they changin the dress code...i can go with fmily...:) thanq
hmm dress code for Auqa park is really a grt thing which could only happen here, ai guys this is a historical event hope so...
Yes how can we miss family day..Good Point Rizks..:)
...told me this a few days ago. The wife said the new dress code for females was that you had to be covered to the knees (so not even a one piece swimsuit would be acceptable).
I explained that if that was the case, then I wouldn't ever be taking my family to the water park -- to which she responded "But why? Qatar is an Islamic country. You should respect the culture."
If they want to say no bikinis, only one pieces, no problem. But if I have to wear bike shorts over my swimsuit, or a scuba wet suit , then forget about it.
I mean, God forbid we women should wear -- gasp! - SWIMWEAR to the aqua park!
Yeah right! make a dress code for taking bath and getting born (Birth suit)as well.
..hi Rizks.....why dont we Request to change the water colour to BLACK instead of Blue....so no more....Dress code issue naaa????
Brackish ?
watz tat ? :(
And the Timings as well. Let's say Locals they can go on Tue,Wed,Thur and Expatriates Fri,Sat,Sun.
Because most Expatriates they want to expose their SEXY bodies and wearing 1 or 2 piece swimwear.
I am sure if this happend the water instead of Blue, it will become Brackish......
hahahaha yeah right ..... theys should do that
they should construct a separate aqua park exclusive for qataris or other conservative fellows respectively and non-qataris/ expats so that there will be no issues anymore about "decent attire" blah blah
dont expect me to wear my jammies or covering myself with blanket while swimming on d pool.
maybe they want us to wear gowns in there ....or maybe atleast..pajama's
madurai ur jokes are making my day low...:(
With tinted eye glass..............
Can I borrow "Lungi" from one of you guys??..or Rizks help me to get..!!! for one trip...and will be return without washing...B'caz...It washes while I dip....
Dress code and a "Family Day" tooo...
Poor bachelors....:(
am sure soon it will look like Greenlands, lots of penguins ..wow
I think a better idea would be alternately have Qatari's and non Qatari Fridays as I think most people would like to go there on a friday..:)
So what is "decent attire"? Should I wear a full piece suit that covers my belly? Or a burkini? There's no way in hell I'm forking out money for a burkini, better to just not go to the water park.
suggested Dress Code for Aqua Park = all adults above the age of 4 should wear space suits :)
do they always have to abide by saudi?
saeedkan becoz entertainment is haram here :D
I don't know for how long this obsession with dress code will continue ?
When I first heard the QRadio caller complain , I thought that's ridiculous. I never thought it to be that serious until a local columnist written an article yesterday demanding what she call "decent attire" for the water theme park!!!
So, what is a suitable attire for a theme park? And do we expect people from different cultures to wear Burqinis?
The aqua park fellows should make it clear as to what they mean by 'suitable' swim wear and then let people decide if they want to go there or not... may be they can put up displays showing the type of clothes that are allowed and not allowed.
Went to Atlantis in Dubai over the Eid Khanan no problem there!
Lets see how much the locals can tolerate here!
UK...I am seeing that coming soon..
swimwears should be ok if no topless or tanga
hmmm...so what can be worn? Burqini?
Lets see when they will close it down even before it is officially opened?
really outrageous not just hilarious, more so ridiculous
Khanan, i told up there wat to wear ? :(
what you expect people to wear..??
WTH...
wearing Transparent Lungi's allowed ? :(
This was always going to be a problem. Aqua park guys are going to be in a fix now, people may not want to go there if they can't wear normal swim wear even inside Aqua park.
there could be. you can see the same in many aqua parks in India as well.
