Double standards
Why do the Qatar authorities ignore the blatant issue they clearly have with gay men in Qatar? They arrest the Chinese ladies many sponsors lure to Qatar with false promises of work but allow the blatant homosexual actitivies of Arab men to pass without penalty or prosecution....why??
Let's see how large the moderators testicles are to post this comment....or not!!!
@ Besty ..
Like i mentioned earlier >_<
He was an Arab and Arabs ( Most of them ) looks after their Arab brothers . This is how they are.
Don't bring religion in to this ....... Muslims by faith are not allowed to go to pubs or any where serving alcohol ... consider that person an Arab rather then a Muslim .
just like what @safari911 said its true .. Arabs look at their history before Islam even reached them and your would understand why they are how they are now >_< ..
@ Besty don't pass out judgement on the world cous of a few idiots ....
who told you that guys was even a CID ? did u ask for HIS id ? they are obligated to present a form of identification, before presenting them selves as a Cop or CiD ... people do this all the time ... my be he was just a friend of that other guy looking after him ....
Quit being a pansy and deal with it .. life happens .. move on .. Arab men kiss each other ??? they are not gays that's how they great each other ... its a traditional way of greeting each other ...
whats your deal with you and gays any ways? ...
Most European countries ?
This is Qatar isn't it now ?
Again you live in their sandbox , Play by their rules .
Don't like it .. Move to an European country .. problem solved
True the police and CID have double standards. They are totally biased towards nationals and arabs in any context, the gay issue being just one of them. The rules are very very strictly followed for "others" but not their own people, when both group of population risk loss of job etc. Also agree that it happens in other countries as well, but thats not a justification for these discriminations in a country aiming for such high world class aspirations. Remember this is a small world and everyone is watching everyone. Being an ostrich will not help.
agree ;)
On the one hand people complain about Qatar being backward, but when the government shows some maturity by treating all the gay people here with tolerance, people still complain.
Frankly I am glad that all my gay friends in Qatar can live here without any problems - why should they feel discriminated against?
And remember this is a culture that doesn't like men and women mixing. If you didn't know that before you came, you should have done your homework!
so if the OP mentioned Christians it wouldn't be racist 2012?
This is a ridiculous thread. I hope mods delete such racist lies.
So a car speeds on the road, the OP would have us allow murder to make things equal. Ridiculous.
I'm not defending anyone here, but your friend being warned for kissing his wife "on the forehead" could be a one-off case. I have kissed my wife and mother every time we're at the airport departures in front of the cops and they've said nothing. Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe it's generally acceptable at the airport, I don't know.
I don't frequent bars like the Sheraton and Qube, so I really don't know what goes on there, but from what you say, I'd rather stick to Belgian Cafe or the Cellars, they have a much better crowd :-)
@ bornwithoutabrain - it's standard practice in many parts of Europe to greet a friend (both male and female) with a kiss on the cheek. It's ok for Arab men to kiss each other so why should they object to someone greeting a friend/wife/husband in a traditional European manner?
In most European Countries we accept different faiths and religions, we allow them to lead their own lives, follow their cultures and traditions. They build their own communities and nobody objects to them following their beliefs in a foreign country....something the Arab states could well learn from
Because 2022 will bring people from all over the World that won't put up with a corrupt police state
@ s_isale, what happened to wind me up? A drunk Muslim upstairs in the Sheraton started an arguement with me and was getting aggressive. CID stepped in, told the Muslim to go away and told me to hand over my RP. I refused, the CID officer told me if I didn't hand it over I would be arrested and deported. I asked why he hadn't taken the drunk Muslim's ID, he responded he can't be drunk.....he's a Muslim and we don't take alcohol!!!
Anyone that goes to the Qube, Sheraton or the numerous other bars will know the Muslims take a drink and the CID theory is a total crock!! Or take a flight to Bangkok and watch the deviants there!
and Qube you too get to see PDA, couples cuddling and kissing each other and the bouncer don't interfere.
and why the hell everything is co-related to WC 2022.
There are so many blinkered views of Qatar, people need to open their eyes and ears to understand what really happens in this Country. Go to the Qube or upstairs in the Sheraton and you will see what I'm talking about. There are gays openly kissing and touching each other in front of Security staff....who turn a blind eye. The CID frequent these places but are more interested in trapping a Chinese woman for prostitution than doing anything about the gays blatantly participating in an illegal act.
Qatar has to wake up soon and realise they are not some super power than can pick and choose which law to enforce. 2022 is not that far away and if the newspapers got a sniff of what life is actually like in Qatar, they'd have a field day.
Qatar.....time to wake up and smell the roses.......or the manure that's used to feed them!!!
There is a saying that "christians are like windows, you only notice them when they are dirty". The situation is the same with Muslims. There are perverts, pedofiles, homosexuals, criminals, adulterers etc in any country. As Bornwithoutabrain said the police are understandably biased. Not only because the offender is a "Muslim","Arab" or a Qatar, but also due to the fact that there is the threat of loss of job if the offender happens to have connections in high places.
so what happened to you to get yourself so worked up?
@Mughalzada Long live Qatar , Long live Arabs . I stand with you on that .
Love the country to bits & Love Arabs the same >_<
In the world of today , one of the safest place to be in .
@besty. Tell your friend not to kiss his wife in public end of that little problem . They can kiss all they want in their house or a country that is open for that sorta stuff . Don't like it leave . ( Go to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain....and Bangkok any weekend to see how perverse these sexual deviants are .. Humans. Arabs are no different )
@Latefa. No one is forcing you to come down here >_< the country if over populated as it is. Just because some gay princess wants to prance around in Qatar and the authorities wont allow it, Dun mean the country is bad .
Lets face it the Cid sided with and Arab in an Arab country. If i was a cop and was in my country i would side with my own people instead of the out sider. That's how the world works .
What you will speak about yourself when you are in front of a mirror. Please my friends don't pollute QL with this kind of articles. Tell me where in this world is a perfect society?
we should not Un-thankful to a country from where we are earning and filling it in our belly.
LONG LIVE QATAR, LONG LIVE ARABS
really? you scared me when i was thinking of moving there
really, i was thinking to move to qatar and now you scared me
Welcome to the Qatar a safe and wonderful Muslim Country ^_^
( I use the word " Muslim " very very very loosely )
( My thoughts on so called "Muslims" who drink go to pubs and have *e* , don't offer the obligatory five times a day "fard" prayers .
. I don't consider them to be one . And if you see one and he labels him self as a Muslim please don't think bad of the rest of us :*( that particular individual has no what so ever understanding on what Islam is. )
You guys will get used to it.
We live in their sand box, have to play by their rules
This is how the Brain of Qatar ticks .
the land of sexism - racism and all them other ism's you could possible think of .
Before I went to Qatar I was pretty laid back about almost everything. I have gay friends and have no problem with their sexuality but within a few months of being in Qatar I realized how anal the place is. My friend was "warned" for kissing his wife on the top of her head in a public place but Arab men can have blatant homosexual relationships an nothing is said or done.
I was in the Sheraton a few weeks ago and had an arguenemt with a particularly obnoxious DRUNK Arab. The CID tried to take my RP from me but ignored the Arab.....there response, he can't be drunk, he's Muslim!!! Go to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain....and Bangkok any weekend to see how perverse these sexual deviants are!!
They even renamed a street in Bangkok after them! It's now called Soi Arab!
Your title pretty much sums it up!...ignore & deny a problem long enough & think it will go away is pretty much standard practice here...& it extends to most issues...half of the gay lot here have turned gay thanks to the extreme restrictions on normal interaction with the opposite gender,so for some of 'em,it's just an easier option to go gay...strange but true...
