Can I stay/co-habit with my boyfriend whilst visiting him in Doha for three weeks?

Hey people, I'm new to this site and totally clueless about the local customs so please be gentle!

I need to know if I can stay with my boyfriend whilst visiting Doha for a three week holiday...

I don't want to get 'busted' for doing anything 'wrong' so I need to be sure of the local laws.

If anyone know where I can access a copy of Qatar's laws, as such, it would be much appreciated.

Also, as many before me have asked, I'd like to know if wearing ankle length skirts/dresses is required 24/7 and if I should cover my hair AND my face?

A little about me - tallish, brunette (cropped short), blue eyes and have A.D.H.D to boot, so I tend to be a little outrageous. (Check out my 'profile' for more.)

Big kiss!

Ciao

V

A fair few tennis players were here with their girlfriends last week. One even had his Girlfriend pointed out by the TV just to let everyone know they were not married. He went home with a lot of money. So is he a criminal or what? Bet they didn't have single rooms at the RC.

Who cares?

Attention: Wissami, LeighLee & The-Birdie; Yes I am real. NO I am not trying to attract further men. I felt the discription may have been topical with regards to my question about attire. (Going by other threads I have read on here.)

I HAVE previously stated that I am clueless about the customs etc...

Furthermore, as Mother always said, "If you don't have anything nice to say, p*ss off!"

I agree with Hagar. You dont get noticed or questioned by any authorites as long as you dont annoy anybody. Added to that, if your nationality is European/Western/American, then nobody raises eyebrows!

Wearing a fake wedding ring would make no difference (ofcourse you can fool the passersby) :-), as the authorities here go only by authenticated printed documents, if at all they would need any.

So be cool! Visit and enjoy your holiday in Doha!

why do you explain to us how you look? are you trying to find even more guys while you are in qatar? or just in need of some attention?

Okay, so it's illegal but I can get away with it if I don't flaunt it or offend anyone. How about if we just pretend we are married? Could I just wear a ring? Would anyone question us then? And if someone in authority did question us, would we have to produce a marriage certificate?

(How scary, but a wee bit s*xy in a 'we might get caught' kind of way! LOL!)

Regarding if you can stay with your boyfriend, of course. A visit visa is legal and nothing is wrong with that.

There's no strict dress code here as long as it is decent.

Welcome here in Qatar.

Campbell_09 - Bahahaaa! I'm pretty sure he agrees! After all he's the one paying for me to go over! Doubt I'll be leaving the apartment much anyway if all goes according to plan, so maybe attire will not be an issue after all. LOL! ;)

Is it illegal? Yes, but it's unlikely that you would get in trouble unless you flaunt the situation. Follow the rule "Don't ask, don't tell." Unless you are checking into a hotel, no one is likely to ask if you are married or not. If asked when you enter where you are staying, just say "with a friend", don't say to any official that it's your boyfriend.

As to dress, just avoid anything outrageous (no short skirts, sleeveless top, spaghetti straps, etc.), No need to cover up or wear a head scarf.

Enjoy your visit here.
