Becoming a Qatari
Expats living here for some time must have observed what I feel & have experienced. I find original qatari citizens very humble and softspoken, whereas these non-gcc arabs who acquire qatari citizenship are very authorative and rude esepcially to expats and sub-ordinates.
Here's my situation. This Irani-Qatari is interferring in my job and also fighting verbally with my supervisor over petty matters. He always bullies me and complains to big boss that I am not working properly. This happened for sometime..I always updated my supervisor about his bullying and backbiting tactics. In another situation, he shouts at me in front of many strangers in the store.. This time I lose my temper and shout at him, "Keep quite, you Irani". This bugger got mad hearing the Irani word and jumped on to hit me. First time, I was shocked, then I managed to block his other two blows, which he wanted to hit hard. The matter goes to Big Boss: Big Boss questions me, "Why u said Irani to him. I should say sorry to him first" I argued with the boss, if i have done mistake, he has done bigger mistake than me. But BB argument was why i said Irani? BB gave another option to take matter to HR. My colleagues advised me to drop the matter as I will not get fair trial and may come in more difficulty. So I had to forget it. BB said to say sorry to each other and resovle the matter. I had to do, but now this guy seems to be more courageious and pissing all the time....
Is it after getting qatari passport the brain phyche changes from good to worst!!! Qatar is progressing very fast, but what about situations like these, I know many there are in similar situations like me? Is anybody getting discrimated? I know its a very sensitive issue, but I would appreciate if expats and arabs join the discussion.
Salute you. all gentleman should learn from this lady, our problem is always fear to respond, even they did the worst to you. If every single person respond in the same way they will not spit on your face?!!
you do realise that by calling him a "name" you just stooped to his level and now its a big issue. The matter shud have been taken to HR when it was him insulting you in the first place. All the best with the blame game now. Apologize and finish the issue. Sometimes, a peace treaty is best for everyone.
First of all guys lets clear one thing...there is no orginal qataris if you think like that...all are either from Saudia, Iran, Syria, Pakistan or palistene... soo for anyone to say you are not a qatari, you are a irani is a very very big insult to us... we were born here, raised here, educated here, and soo were our fathers, we have never been to our orginal countries.. no know one from there...and then an expartriate comes to us and tells us you are irani...i cant think of anything more embarssing than this.. btw irani qatari are more educated and humble than the so called orginal qataris..guess most of you donot have much exposure or are new to qatar... not trying to start a fight..always look at the other picture... calling someone an irani is like calling his father a name !
I must salute your courage to write this post and bring this to everyone's attention but as suggested by so many others need to go to the police & if you are not doing this that means you are indirectly incouraging such people even if you don't intend to do so.
Most of the Iranians who got Qatari Passports are thinking that they are more powerful than the Original Qataris who are well behaved and peaceful. If they get the passport they will not talk any more Persian to the other Nationals but their Nationals are clever and intelligent enough to recognize those newly added Qatari Citizens. When they meet the real Iranians then they will talk their Persian language with big respect.
why didnt you go to the police...he should be put in jail for hitting a woman....in qatar every thing is could happen except insulting a woman....he would be in big trouble even if he has a qatari passport...and your boss is an asshole ...you know what!!! if you want i can help you and go to the police with you...pm me if ur interested
And, Yes, I fully second that original Qataris are very Nice and Humble people.
I fully agree with you lucknpeace, as a similar situation happened in our company. A Qatari-neutralized Palestinian origin guy was our PRO and was superbly-rude / arrogant with everyone. I felt that given more time, a stage will come when we shall be exchanging blows but luckily before that stage arrives, the guy was caught embezzling big-time and was kicked-out of the company.
Unfortunately, we could not fully pursue his case in courts but at least, we got rid of him.
And, this is not the one case with us or with you. I heard a number of such cases from other friends and colleagues too.
I wish U good-luck in getting rid of him in some way.
????????????????????
I'm not sure that you can generalize about all naturalized Qataris from just one example, but I am shocked that he tried to hit you. Both of you could try apologizing.
Hello there! first of all,i want to salute and congratulate you for the bravery you have shown in the face of trouble, that Iranian hypocrite had the nerve to try to hit a woman, and that is a huge catastrophe,he has no respect for anyone, and i am disgusted at his behaviour,if a guy said that to him,he wouldn't raise his voice!
It was the wrong thing to say. Just apologize.
Kindly post this topic in the FORUM section...THANKS..
This has been discussed even before..

atleast ladies should be dealt with respect....whether its qatari or qatari irani cz islam teaches us so
