Alcohol permits

how exactly does the alcohol permits work? Do you get a certain allowance per month/week? how much is it and how is it calculated?

I love my wine and am just wondering how I'd survive over in Qatar.

Which times do they not serve it and would you still be allowed to drink at your home descreetly?

Your monthly limit is based on your salary. The only times you cannot buy is during Ramadan and certain holidays - all are well posted in advance at the bottle shop.

You have to drink discretely in any event. Public drinking/intoxication can land you in jail.

Also be discrete in transporting the stuff - Qatar is very tolerant of foreigners but the police will act on complaints if you behave stupidly.

you need to give a letter from your company stating your salary, then they will decide how much you allowance is.
