Woqod opens brand new petrol station at Mesaimeer South
For the past few months, Qatar Fuel Company (Woqod) has been working overtime to open new petrol stations in different parts of the country.
Their expansion spree could not have come at a better time because drivers have been complaining about serpentine queues outside fuel stations in Qatar.
Woqod has just opened a brand new petrol station in Mesaimeer South, taking the total number of its outlets in the country to 78, reported Gulf Times.
The company said the new station’s opening was in line with their vision of being able to serve every area in the country.
In addition to the fuel station in Mesaimeer South, the company has also opened a mobile fuel dispenser unit in Onaiza to reduce congestion in other fuel stations in the area during peak times, reported Qatar Tribune.
The fixed-station at Mesaimeer South is spread over 12,800SqM and has three lanes with nine dispensers for petrol. There is another lane with two dispensers for diesel.
It will offer round-the-clock services and will include a Sidra convenience store, manual car wash unit, oil change and tyre repair centre, store for LPG cylinder purchase and another shop for gasoline and diesel products for vehicles.
“We’re pleased to open the new fixed petrol station, Mesaimeer South. Woqod has recently accelerated the process for the construction of new petrol stations to meet the fuel and energy needs of the country,” said Woqod CEO Saad Rashid Al Muhannadi.
Woqod is currently overseeing the implementation of 19 new petrol stations, a large number of which are expected to be operational during 2018. While nine new stations are in the bidding phase, 14 are in the design phase.
Woqod is targeting to open a total of 130 fuel stations in the country by the end of 2020.
