Qatar wins the top spot in consumer rights in the Middle East
The Middle East Excellence Award Institute has awarded Qatar as the best country in protection of consumer rights in the Middle East.
The award was received by Youssef Saad Abdullah Al Suwaidi, the head of the Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
The ceremony was held on the sidelines of the 5th GCC Municipalities and Smart Cities Conference in Dubai.
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce said yesterday that it is committed to implementing policies for consumer protection by creating awareness about products and services. Consumers are being educated on their rights and how to secure them.
The ministry further added that it is pushing hard to curb illegal trade and monopoly. Middle East Excellence Award Institute confers awards annually for best achievements of municipalities and urban developments.
