10-day countdown begins for 2025 National Sport Day
With just 10 days to go for Qatar’s annual National Sport Day celebrations, excitement in the country is slowly building.
A number of sports events — being organised by public entities and private companies — will encourage people of all ages and nationalities to actively take part on February 11.
The second Tuesday of February will be jam-packed with sports events. The Education City Run and Education City Triathlon are expected to feature hundreds of competitors over various distances.
Msheireb Downtown Doha will once again organise a massive sports initiative, featuring multiple events, for the entire family.
The Qatar National Library premises, in addition to Aspire Zone, will host numerous sports activities for the public.
Meanwhile, the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) will host the inaugural QOC Half Marathon at the Lusail Boulevard on February 11.
The race will be held in four main categories — the 21km Half Marathon, 10km, 5km, and 1km fun run. The fun run will be open to children aged 6 to 14 years.
The wide selection of races will ensure inclusivity for participants of all ages, genders, and fitness levels.
Abdullah Al Marri, Head of the race’s Communication Committee, highlighted the growing enthusiasm surrounding the event.
“The impressive registration numbers are a testament to the increasing importance of sports in our community. We’re seeing a strong turnout, not only from individual runners but also from families eager to experience this unique sporting celebration together,” he said.
