Qatar donates $10m to Global Fund to Fight AIDS
Qatar has taken a stand to push back against deadly diseases by making a significant $10m contribution towards the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
HE Dr Hanan Al Kuwari, Qatar’s Minister of Public Health, made this announcement during a conference in Canada.
“Fighting TB and providing access to health services to refugees and displaced populations in the Middle East region are an important priority for Qatar,” arabianbusiness.com quoted her as saying.
The move by Qatar was widely appreciated on Twitter.

The Global Fund has extensive outreach programmes in the Middle East. It provides essential HIV, TB and malaria services to key and vulnerable populations including refugees, internally displaced people, women, children and other populations in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Yemen.
This is certainly a commendable effort and one that should be lauded. Good work, Qatar.
