Government dept. ordered to pay employee's medical bill

By QatarNews

A higher court has asked a government department to reimburse a medical bill of more than QAR800,000 ($225,000) to an employee who spent the sum on liver transplant.

The employee served the department for 17 years and his job contract made it legally binding on his employers to pay for his medical expenses that amounted to QAR821,250

The employee told the court that the department wasn't paying him his end-of-service benefits as well. The court asked the defendants to pay that sum as well.

The plaintiff, who had a liver transplant in China, first went to a lower court which rejected his plea on the ground that his paperwork was incomplete and he didn't have sufficient documents to back his claim for reimbursement of medical expenses.

According to local Arabic daily Al Watan, the man then went to a Court of Appeals which not only admitted his plea but ruled in his favor. [The Peninsula]

max11: Yes, you are absolutely right! It is indeed great news for all. It speaks very highly of the system of justice here in Qatar something many could never dream of back home. Yet, very sadly this very positive aspect of Qatar was overlooked when this one person jumped the gun and posted his comments. Just read the first comment that appeared on this subject. And he has gone on overdrive to attack Qatar, its Ministers, Arabs, and others for the past several days. He even went to the extent by crossing all rules of ethics in one of his postings stating the Qatar Foreign Minister was "lying." A person with education would never do that. No, I do not medical attention. It is the other person who does and you should have suggested this to him and not to me. If you are unaware of what he has been posting, just go through QL's first page articles over the past five days. Everything should be crystal clear to you then. If you still cannot see the reality, then you would prove yourself to be both myopic, and terribly biased. Agree QL is doing a lovely job in providing so much of useful information to everyone.

Accha if you have something to say then say it !!! why beat around the bush... and i dont think the Arab world needs you to defend them, i am sure they can take care of themselves...

And honestly i have no clue what you are trying to say.... who on QL is attacking "Arabs, Muslims, Qatar and the people from the east "??? dude you need medical attention....

QL website is doing a fine job of listing useful information for everyone here in Qatar so why get personal and make it ugly for everyone... just chill bro...

max11: Why don't you comment on the attacks on Arabs, Muslims, Qatar and the people from the east that is being carried out at QL by one single person? I believe he has nothing better to do!

Wild Turkey: You got an opportunity, jumped on it quickly, and fired your first salvo. But then, you guns went silent! Why? It is very unusual on your part.

WT; There you go once again! You now have something new in your hands to give Qatar a drubbing. I guess your guns are oiled and ready. Just load. Aim. Fire.

"the department wasn't paying him his end-of-service benefits." Even the government doesn't follow the laws of Qatar? That's encouraging for every other company.
