Drones to monitor violations in rural areas in Qatar?
By Spider Sense •
The municipal authorities in Qatar could soon resort to usage of drone technologies to monitor violations in the rural areas — countryside known in Arabic as Al Bar.
People usually flock to rural areas to camp or enjoy the panoramic desert landscape. At present, it is really difficult to keep track of them or monitor their activities.
A Qatari citizen has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Municipalities and the Environment suggesting the use of wireless drones that are readily available in the market at reasonable prices.
It is a revolutionary idea and has many merits. What do you think?

There is a clear privacy issue
MM.... Why do you always make me agree with your comment ?
Lets take it positively ................. will be helpful in more ways than one ..................
nah.. it will be rejected... they should explain first what kind of Drones.. they would not even allow you to play/fly a drone for recreational activity.. because of privacy issues, but in UAE they've embraced this technology, in the recent World Drone Championship they've showcased how drone can help in society.. like extinguishing fires, first aid kits delivery systems and so on. Qatar should make it legal first before they can move to the next step.
The idea is good but it is a no go .. Local families go out to such places .. They do not want to be 'spied upon' , especially with ladies in the group ..
What a nice idea .. We support this
Yes, it is an excellent idea. These drones are already in Qatar and have been tested. They can even cover the whole of Qatar, if needed.
In addition, these drone can help the country reduce the traffic fatalities by keeping an effective check on the dangerous and high speed drivers, who attempt to drive carelessly on all the roads ouside the city limits. Most of the fatalities happens on these roads.
