What is the procedure to stay more than 6 months outside qatar without getting RP cancelled?

Can anyone please suggest the solution.. if wife stays more than 6 mths out of Qatar mostly the RP gets cancelled. What should be done if she wants to come back to qatar after 8 mths without reapplying for RP. Her RP is valid till may 2012 and we dont want the visa to get cancelled.

We hav heard that we can pay a fine of 500Qr. is that true... What is the procedure...? where do we need to go and pay the fine?

her RP will not be cancelled,al u have to do is go to the passport office/immegration with her RP copy explain them the matter and there is a fee for getting her RP extended and she can come back to qatar like every other expat with an RP.
