What are the rules for Sponsorship of Live in Maid

My wife and family are in Qatar and all have residency permits under my sponsorship.

We are looking to employ a live in maid, and would be happy to sponsor her, but I understand from two sources that unless both my wife and I are working, or I am Qatari(which I am not) I am unable to sponsor them.

We have friends who are leaving and would like to take on their maid, but guess this would not be possible either as we would have problems when it came to renew her Work Permit if her RP sponsor was diferent from her Work Permit Sponsor, assuming we could change the RP.

Are there any reliable and trustworthy Agencies, that we could either employ a maid through (one new to the country) or is there an agency that could take over an existing sponsorship for us.

Have looked around and many posts seem abit old now, so would also appreciate it if someone could advise rates of pay and conditions (time off, food) etc expected and also the charges the agencies are likely to levy.

Thanks in advance to all you helpful people.

SallyDeepu, thanks but you say first I need to get Approval for a Visa, if I work and my wife does not, I don't believe I can get it, so can the Agent not get this ?

First you will need to get a visa approval from immigration which is in Gharafa. This approval is to allow you or an agency to apply for a house maid. Without the approval you cannot proceed. Getting this approval is tricky, I know of people who have applied twice and it got rejected and third time it was approved so either you can keep trying or approach your company pro or any pro you know who has good contacts inside the immigration and can guarantee you an approval. They will probably charge you 500 riyals to get this done for you. The actual charge of the approval is 50 riyals. It will take approx. 3 days to get the approval.

Once you get the approval you can go ahead and apply for housemaid's visa provided you have a passport copy in hand or you can approach an agency and they will do all the work for you and call you once your housemaid has arrived and is in their office and you just go pick her up from there. The agency will give you a full profile pic of the lady and general details like her age and previous work experience etc. They have albums segregated on nationality. Batilco is once such agency we are dealing with and they charge 8000 for a filipino housemaid and per month you pay the housemaid QR750 as her salary. Batilco will do all the necessary paper work for you. You just need to give them your documents like passport copy and salary cert etc. You can call them on 486 2826, 487 0939. Once she arrives you take her for the medical which will call I think 1500 riyals and then after 2 1/2 months you do the finger printing and complete her resident visa procedure. Reason being that in 3 months if she is medically unfit or she refuses to work for what ever her reason then the agency gives you a replacement with no extra charge hence they ask you to wait 3 months to apply for her residence in passport.

Hope this helps.
