Visa and Work

Hello everyone...I would like to ask you , if you have info's about a particular case.

Me and my husband we were working in Doha since 2011 but in february 2012 we both had to leave for emergencies regarding our families and we never went back. Our HR Manager or Direct Managers never got back to us even after telling them we will contact them as soon as we will know if we could come back or not.
I would like to know if someone could tell me what's the visa status in such cases and if we could go back earlier then 2014 ( as per the ban, but i don't know were we banned or not or how things went from their end ) .
What i mean in short is if anyone , not only us , in such cases could go back in Doha before the 2 years....

Thank you .

Thank you a lot for the reply...I don't know why but I really wish Qatar would take down this sponsorship because this is confusing for a lot of people and makes life so hard for all of us which we're not qatari...which i have no idea if it's a good or a bad thing....

Qatarisun is right..

if you left qatar and not coming back after 6 mos. its automatic your visa is cancelled, you can come back anytime as long as you obtain NOC from previous sponsor/company.

The visa may not be a problem because it will expire and be cancelled if the employer so decides. However, check with your previous employer if they did not file a complain for absconding from duty. In that case you may be blacklisted. Hope not. Good luck.

I had the same situation last 5 years ago. I was assigned by my previous company out of Qatar but didn't want to come back to Doha for the cancellation of my work residence visa. The HR Dept told the owner its ok since my residence visa will automatically cancel after staying 6 months out of Qatar. Then the two year ban applies if you have no NOC.

So basically you check your last date of departure. Then count 6 months for effectivity of visa cancellation plus 2 years ban to obtain a new work visa. Then your new company can apply for your new work visa and within 2 days time, youre back in Qatar with a vengeance! with the excception of those who fail in the medical exam of course. They'll be back to their home country for sure. :-)

I am explaining to you "the law in qatar regarding the visa"..

it doesn't matter: cancelled, expired, nulled, void, banned, lost, stolen...whatever.. The rule is: if the person wants to obtain another work type of visa (either Business or Work visa) within 2 years from either RP cancellation or the last date of exit, such person has to obtain the NOC from the previous sponsor..

Main branch in Switzerland, or even in the moon, is not an excuse for not providing the NOC. Cannot get NOC - wait 2 years.

Clear?

I knew about this part but someone from Doha said that there is a possibility to come back before the 2 years of ban and actually that's why i posted the whole story so I could know exactly what to expect....

try to check first the rules in doha..if you leave doha for more than a 6 months or as per government policy automatic your visa will be cancelled directly....related to that case in uae...if the expat will leave the country for more than 6 months automatic the the residence permit or working visa will be null and void then as well yo will be banned automatically...try to check first the law in qatar regarding the visa....

Alright I understand , but as i replied before the main branch which is in Switzerland is responsable for such documents and no one received one before...not that I know of .. so in this type of cases what can be done? Or there's no other way except waiting another year ( one is gone now ) in order to be able to come back ?

The visa is not valid anymore because it was issued in 2011 and expiry date was October the 7th 2012....And the NOC I don't understand how to get it ? Once I left I don't think they'll give me one to come back before the 2 years are done , especially to go to work in a different place , and from what i recall the hotel where I was working wasn't giving any NOC to anyone because the main branch which is in Switzerland is responsible for such documents and no one...and I mean no one ... got that from them ever...

Once the visa is expired while you are outside of Qatar doesn't mean or it's not the same as cancelled visa, right ?

yep, you will need a NOC from your sponsor, otherwise 2 years ban from your last exit.

they don's have to "ban" you. The ban is from the government side, not from the company. When your new company applies for your new visa, the Immigration will check your previous visa status, and in your particular case will request the NOC, before the application for your new work visa can be submitted.

you can come back and work but you have to provide an noc from your previous company before you left qatar. The ban is applicable for the time you exit without cancelling your visa but if you will come back for work, you have to provide a noc from the previous company.

Work-wise i mean to go back...if we get an offer from Doha or if we apply for any job would we be eligible or not ? the passport visa is expired since October 2012...but i don't know if they cancelled my visa from their end after we left.

go to Doha as what? for what purpose?

Is your RP still valid? Or you want to obtain some other type of visa? It all depends on teh sitaution and the purpose of 'coming back' to Doha.
