Tourist Visa for my husband?!

Hi all,

I need your feedback on advice/suggestions given to me during a recent job interview.

My (hopefully) future employer told me that if I enter the country, they'd sponsor me for an RP and I'd in turn sponsor my husband for an RP. He's not currently employed in Qatar nor does he have any interviews lined up.

We were told that it's better that he enters under a tourist visa until he finds a job so that transfer of sponsorship can be easy for my future employer and Qatar government. They also told me that the government gives them a difficult time when transferring RP sponsorship from one employer to another/ from wife to husband so they discouraged me.

Both my husband and I don't feel comfortable with him entering under a tourist visa. For one, he has to leave the country every 90 days. Second, we feel it's considered fraud to enter under a tourist visa with the intent of looking for a job. Finally, we have no guarantee he'll be re-issued a tourist visa automatically if he leaves for 1-2 days every 90 days for consecutive visits nor do we have a clear idea of what his job opportunities are.

Do any of you know anyone with a spouse who entered under a tourist visa? Would you advise against what my future employer shared with me? Any feedback is appreciated.

We all come in on tourist visas, even you will as the employee. You have to take a medical exam here and your employer has to submit the paperwork for your residency permit while you are in Qatar. Takes about a month for both you and your husband.

We are both American citizens. I don't know if that makes any difference.
