Sharing Experiences at Goverment Offices
A week ago I went to Immigration and was pleasantly surprised to be dealt with by very helpful staff !
A few days ago I went to Abu Hammour Traffic Police Station in the morning to be met by the complete opposite - an obnoxious indivudal who didn't care to serve me possibly because he struggled to speak English - I didn't see this as a problem but his pushing and shoving indicated he was very upset. I eventually spoke to a few Qataries and the officer in charge, who I found very pleasant unlike the non-Qatari police officer expatriate who didn't have any manners (his nationality does not reflect his behaviour although I'm seeing a pattern emerging).
Qatar and their people have accepted many expatriates particularly from Arabic speaking people and unfortunately many of them don't do the job well or are rude and obnoxious only helping Qataries and others who are from their home country - if they are so uptight with the system they are more than welcome to go home, but if they are in a customer facing role then they should behave with a level of professionalism appropriate for a developing nation like Qatar - this is not the third world and Qatar needs a much better work force particularly in the police and government offices if they hope to impress during 2020.
It would be interesting to learn about other people and their experiences - good and bad - with the government offices and any tips - apart from choking the guy out - on dealing with these kinds of confrontations.
Please share so we can avoid any problems.
Here's the tip from my experience - ASk for the persons name and police number - this will make him very apprehensive even if you don't report him to his seniors !!
Another bashing thread. So much jealousy . . .
Dubai one reported that customer satisfaction is at 82% for the government's identity office - I'm hoping the ministries are not far behind. They've even set up a legal advisory office in one of the shopping centres to ensure you can find out what your rights are. Qatar needs to move on this, there may be a long road ahead but every journey starts with one step..
Why need to perform customer satisfaction when competition does not exist.
Karwa, Qtel, .....
Ahh the beauty of Qatar. I take my words back its not just the non-Qatari Arabs its everyone. Bad service is definitely not restricted to nationality. The smiles and "ok come back in 3 days" were simply a cover for the kully wully "let them eat cake" attitude - the sharp minded English speaking almond eating service advisors either didn't know their job or didn't care. I was told to go to gate 4 1st floor who told me to go back to gate 2 who told me to go back to gate 4 who told me to go back to gate 2 - LOL !!! - advisor rubbed his head in his hands hoping I would vanish but eventually told me to go to the bird's eye Captain who promptly and quite politely signed the paper without a second thought - nice man !
360 degree feedback is required to help the managers of these offices understand precisely what's going on. I can act as a consultant - its not a matter of firing or replacing people but training and quality assurance is required - actions need to be transparent and performance needs to measured using levels of customer satisfaction !
looooool
The best is when you ask them a question and they don't answer because they are texting their friends on BB..
What a city!
Mine was very simple , Took the token in Immigration in Gharaf , 76 persons waiting , My turn came after 1 hours 40 Minutes , The lady without seeing my papers asked me to come again at 3 in a afternoon , Ask the reason , she simply turned back and left the desk , It was so simple .
redtreble exactly the same thing happened to me! lol
My right eye SUCKS! I never thought i had any eye problems before.. That lady is messed up.
It's the 1% who are NOT Qatari but speak Arabic that give bad service. You see they will be nice to Qataris so you will never know how bad they behave with other people.
This man was not abentminded he waited for the Qatari officer in charge to go to toilet and then became very rude and grabbed my arm which was unacceptable to me. He then became nice when the Qatari officer came back. The Qatari was an extremely nice man and tried to calm me down.
English was not the problem it was this clerk's attitude.
I hate seeing people taking advantage of Qatar and giving Qatar a bad name. Qatar is NOT 3rd world !
We need a complaint procedure - a box where a person can write down what was good and what was bad about the service then at least the officer would know who is bad in his team !!! And hopefully send him on a training course !!! If there is any Qatari out there reading this please pass on this suggestion about having a complaints box to your friends in the majlis - I'm sure the right person will get to know and within 6 months this initiative will be implemented.
if any of u have problem with people working in ministry it is not because they r wronge mostly people are absent minded and dont understand quickly like the people posting their bad stories and for ur information all who work in minstry they understand english and translator are also available in almost all department..
so u eat almond to sharp ur mind so in future u will not face any problem.......
Im not generalising but my husband and I have mey quite a few extremely rude and obnoxious people here.
On the contrary, the highly placed officials in the Ministry of Interior, the Police Dept and in the Municipality are such a pleasure to deal with.
I was particularly impressed by this gentleman who will remain unnamed on this public forum but who stunned us with his courtesy and his efficiancy in sorting out what we thought was a huge issue.
He just solved it in a jiffy.
Thats what I like about Qatar.
Having said this, we were gobsmacked by the way the police constable was berating an elderly gentleman for having parked in car in way which offended his sensibilities.
this is at the E ring road traffic police dept where you go to change your number plates. for some reasons the elderly man had parked his car diagnoally and the way the police ripped in off in full view of other customers was downright churlish.
Its not whether he was right or wrong, I find one should respect the age of customers... you cant publically bark at an old man, whatever be his parking offence...too many frustrated garbage trucks around and the best way to deal with them is smile at them and utter a silent prayer hoping God would help them and prevent more happless victims from their rage and at the same time thank God you are never as rude as they are.
My experience is not with Govt Offoces, rather the people at the shops or I meet on the streets . I find in Qatar , Arab speaking nationals (non Qatar nationals)always behave little rudely . Many I time i feel this may be the reason they do not grow up in the business field.May be they have the feeling that they speak arabic and so they are superior than the non arabic speaking expats . To be very frank I don t like many of thes people bvecuase of this attitude ..
ENGLISH IS NOT A MARK OF QUESTION...IF IT IS, THEN YOU WILL NOT FIND ENGLISH IN CHINA, THOUGH CHINESE PPL AND ITEMS ARE POPULAR THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.
"quite why reading tiny letters is so important when every car in this country is the size of a tank, I don't know"...ROFL...:)
When I went for my eye test for the driving licence, I realised my right eye was a bit weak and I was struggling to read the letters (quite why reading tiny letters is so important when every car in this country is the size of a tank, I don't know).
Anyway, as I'm not getting the letters right, the woman administering the test starts shouting her head off at me, scolding me like I'm a six year-old who hasn't bothered to learn the alphabet! I couldn't believe it! I wanted to give her a right mouthful but given that she had the power to decide whether I could drive or not, I bit my tongue.
I have never experienced anything like that anywhere in the world.
