Hi Everyone,

I have been informed by my sponsor today that the Security Clearance / Police Certificate is no longer required by the Qatar authorities as a requirement to issue the visa.

Did anyone hear about this?

Regards,

One year is not standard. You normally get 3 years and wife 5. 1 year is only without PCC.

Stamped with what? Visa or residency? PCC is since September mandatory for residency.

I have a msian passport...it just took 2 days to have my passport stamped...I didn't even know I need a PCC...

Jovan,

You might need both. In my case I am a Russian citizen and a permanent resident of Brazil. I got them a certificate from Russian embassy and that was enough. But I know the cases (mostly with arab expatriates) when police asked for certificates from ALL countries where they have stayed for more than 6 months.

I am currently a permanent resident in a country that is not the one stated in my passport. Do you know if I get a police clearance from my current country of residence will this be ok or will I have to return to the country shown in my passport ?

I came to Qatar and just received my ID valid for one year only, they said I have to bring the police certificate From Canada. Is there a way to do it here from our embassy or do I have to do it over in Canada?

My wife is still in Canada, can she do it for me or do I have to go myself

Thanks

Yes,police clearance is required from Manila and it needs to be certified from both Ministry of forien affairs in Manila and Qatar Emassy there. When you arrive Qatar you have to do LOCAL Fingerprints as well as undergo medical exam.

What? Everyone is required to hand in a criminal records check, why is it only ridiculous for Canadians?

People who hold the Canadian CSP would encounter more troubles than American and Australian and obviously british But no body can deny the fact that most if not all the canadian who lives in Qatar and Kwait are having bunch of rediculous treatments .

My husband and I are both Canadians. When we moved to Qatar in early Jan. 06. No police reports were required. However, I did hear that they changed that and anyone coming in had to have one done in the Country that they were coming from.

Everyone that moves to Qatar has to be fingerprinted, but that is done in Qatar.

Hi Milou,

As a Canadian/Egyptian, they first requested me to bring the Security Clearance / Police Certificates from both countries Canada/Egypt. However, they called me again to tell me they only need the Canadian Police Certificate (Criminal Record) because I will come to Qatar as a Canadian Citizen and no need to bring any Egyptian documents. It took me only 10 minutes to get it done from the local Police office in Canada (No fingerprints needed). I am planning to travel to Doha @ the End of this Month.

Regards,

Adil.

PCC for new jobs relaxed: Report

Web posted at: 9/7/2006 3:2:21

DOHA • The requirement for police clearance certificates (PCC) for all categories of foreign workers, including fresh recruits and visitors with job offers applying for employment visas, appear to have been relaxed, diplomatic sources said.

There was no independent confirmation from Qatar's Ministry of Interior, but the sources involved with consular services say there has been a significant drop in requests for PCCs.

it is a must for obtaining a work visa after your arrival in Qatar. So you should get it from ur country. However it is not necessary for a visit or business visa which they would get on the basis of ur degree to get you in the country.
