RP Visa Under Process - Exit & Return

I have just received confirmation that my RP is under process after submitting the initial documentation. I received a State of Qatar Ministry of Interiors Letter/Form which mentions the VP that I entered Qatar on and all other relevant passport details. I have now been asked to attend a meeting out of Country in the UAE.

Questions (which no one at present can answer with a straight answer):

- Can I exit and return?

- Will this affect the RP process?

Any expansion on "NO" ? Someone just informed me that as long as I have not had the medical, I can still leave and return same day. However, this may delay the process slightly but unsure on the specifics and need clarification.
