I am being sponsored privately by a local Qatari friend. What benefits do you get from having a private sponsor opposed to being sponsored by your company? Is there a way to receive a Residency Permit without first having a work Visa?

If a Qatari is your friend he can sponsor you. He will make a fake work contract. (He needs to have a company, though.)

But are you allowed to be sponsored privately for an indefinite period? I assume you need a work Visa when you are sponsored by your company, because your sole intent is to work. And you need a tourist Visa from a hotel because your sole intent is to just visit. Can a private Qatari citizen sponsor you to come over, if you do not claim a purpose?
