Parents visiting Doha, no visa issued at arrival

My parents (both US Citizens) came to Doha for a visit but their passports have not been stamped with the temporary visit visa at the airport. According to my mother, they asked for her credit card but it did not work so they just let them go.

Do I have to go to the airport (the exit visa section) and get the visit visa stamped on the passports or am I safe if I don't? Is there going to be a hefty fine for not getting it in the first place?

Thanks in advance.

hi, it happened to me once. thought i get free pass :P but then realised they have it all in their system.

when i went back to the airport for my flight out, at the exit immigration, they checked and asked me to go into their office to settle the outstanding QR100.

so if you don't want the hassle and wait time when exiting the country, i would advise to go get it sorted out beforehand. also be mindful of the 30-days stay - they charge QR500 for each day of over-stay. one of my colleague over-stayed 7-days = QR3,500 had to pay before they let her exit the country. cheers :)

I've heard that people without credit cards are asked to buy a temporary credit card at the airport. This is then topped up with cash. You can can use the card for payments at all government offices.

As your parents are US Citizens I dont think there will be a problem but they might face some difficulties while going out as the visas are not stamped in their Passports. They might have entered their names in their system and they will not stamp the visa on the passport unless you pay the fee. The card did not work but they dont want to hold US Citizens at the Airport to create an issue. It will be better to go there and pay the fee and get the visa stamped on their Passports.
