labour department approval

Just went to the Immigration section at the Post office to renew my wifes residence permit. Stood in line for almost 3 hours at the end of which was told to go to the Labour dept for approval. Anybody have any idea about this process... what it entails, what documents are required and most importantly how long it takes?? Last year renewal was a breeze.. just took me 15 mins with no questions asked.

got the form from the labour department... will wait for my sponsor to return after eid for the letter and then get cracking on it... till then have a good eid break!!!
Why dont you go to Main Immigration office tmr morning and try your luck there, if they still insist on approval then you have to submit your papers at Labour Dept. it is near Muntazah petrol station.
Once you submit your papers they will provide you with reciept then you can check your application status online.

This is a standard procedure once every 5 years. The labor department is near American Hospital. Get the form from them. Have somebody at your company type it or just go to any typing/services shop to type it for you. They charge maximum 10 QRs. You will need a letter from your sponsor to renew wife's visa for 5 years and they should sign and stamp the labor department application. Will need passports copies (yours and wife) and marriage certificate.
Good luck. Usually Labor department approval will take one week.
thanks..... from what little arabic i can understand i think its the labour department near ramada hotel for approval... no idea why they want that suddenly... the problem is shes leaving for home by the end of the month for her delivery and i wanted to renew the rp before she leaves ... dont want it expiring while shes out of the country... thanks again
Go to Labour Department? Did you ask them where is it? Sometimes when you get to immigration nobody knows what's the next step to do. but if you're patient to ask at least 10 persons around Immigration someone is bound to know where to go next and what's the next step. That's what I do! I don't hesitate to ask people and if I'm not sure I ask other people again. like what happen to us the police at the cabin insisted to bring the old sponsor's original ID but when we went back there this morning they didn't even bother to look for the original QID! and we went to a lots of effort to get the old sponsor to come down with us there at the immigration!
Sorry! I don't know about renewals as yet, but will ask my friends who knows about it and will get back to you as soon as I can.
