Insisting on a tourist visa
By Happy Horizons •
Hi again all,
I asked about this before and I appreciate your feedback. I spoke with my future employer yesterday and they are insisting that my husband comes in with a tourist visa. I explained that we both feel more comfortable with a family visa but the response was all doom and gloom.
Is there any other incentive other than doing less paperwork for them to *really, really, really, really* insist that my husband never get a residency permit through me?
From what I understand, I can enter Qatar under a business visa which will be converted to a residency permit.
I strongly suggest not to proceed. Too many complications! And now that they have made it more strict to go out of our country, going out as tourist will entails too much requirement and headaches for both of you. It seems that your prospective employer has a bad way of getting people! My two cents!
Tourist visas are for citizens of the 33 countries that can get an on-arrival visa for Qatar. A family visa is for those who cannot just come in without a pre-arranged visa. Both are means to get the family member into Qatar in order to process their residency permit. Your employer will certainly allow you to sponsor your husband. I know it's confusing but companies here do this hundreds of times a year and the last thing they want is to lose a recruited worker due to complications or unhappiness.

and our company had to send us all out of the country 3 times before out RP's came though. It was very expensive for them, but we got free vacations.
Get him here with Tourist visa and then convert it to Residence visa with all the necessary documents. Its very simple as you would be his sponsor. Its you who would be arranging for his Residence permit not your company as your husband would be under your sponsorship.
but the sponsor is you with an NOC from your company!
