Reading your comments guys makes me wonder: Does immigration look at the return date on the ticket when issuing visas? I'm looking to bring my mother-in-law in a few weeks, and am wondering if the hassle at the immigration office is necessary. She'll be staying for two months, and I'd prefer to buy the ticket and not change the dates later.
Her visa on arrival will cost QR-/ 100 make sure she has a credit card to pay for this or arrange for the Marhaba service for her they'll look after everything will she gets to sit in a nice air con room with a cuppa. It will last for 1 month if you wish too extend it then it's just a matter of going to the immigration office near the airport and you can extend it for up to a further 2 months at a cost of QR-/100 per month (again credit card will be needed) before she will have to fly out( check this though the rules change all the time and I can only give you what i know from traveling on an Australian passport)
