How to get a residency permit for your newborn

How to get a residency permit for your newborn

Having a new born at home brings in all the joys that one could imagine.

But not very far away are the legal formalities that one needs to complete and be aware of after the arrival of the little angel.

Let's find out the steps that one must know about the Visa for a newborn in Qatar:

Step 1: Acquiring the Birth Certificate

Birth certificates are issued at the Women's Hospital. The process takes a couple of hours at most. The submission procedure takes only a few minutes. A simple form needs to be filled. Apart from the original, extra copies can be requested, for which an additional fee will be charged.

Documents to be submitted -

Original passports of both parents + copies
Copies of RP/VISA pages of parents
Vaccination card** + copy
Notification of live birth**
Copy of attested marriage certificate

**obtained from the hospital where the child was born

Step 2: Obtaining the passport

Collect the required forms from your Embassy. There are three forms to be filled (passport application, application to register birth and birth certificate application). If you don’t want the hassle of filling the form yourself, there are several “freelancers” outside the embassy who’d do it for you. All you need to do is give them the proper details and a nominal 'fee' (20 QAR or thereabouts). You would need three/four specified passport-size photographs of the baby. Also carry copies of the application forms.

Other documents that may be needed are Qatar birth certificate of the child and Copies of parents’ passports.

Step 3: Stamping the RP/VISA

No forms to be filled here. Just submit the requisite documents and pay the visa fee at one the immigration service centres.

Documents needed-

Child’s passport + copy
Sponsor’s original ID
Copy of Qatari birth certificate
Copies of parent’s IDs and RP pages
Copy of marriage certificate

Hope the steps are helpful. Would you like to add in anything else?

Thanks for the post!!!

In my case baby born in Qatar n my wife under my sponsorship.

All Processes are Still Valid. One point for the Indian Passport, take QID copies for parents too.

For QID, one form is required that can be done from shop near to petrol pump (Gharafa Immigration Office).

Dear SK,

I just want to say thanks for the article! I was able to get the RP of my newborn daughter coz of this.

Just want to tell everyone that the process above is still valid, but be reminded that its only for baby's whose mother is under her husband's sponsorship.

Thanks for the article, but this goes for you if your wife is under your sponsorship. In a situation where the parent have different sponsor, (working with different company). After all the Birth Certificate, passport process. You will need to apply for visa at gate 3, you will have to submit the following:

- Visa Application form

- House Contract with Baladiya stamp

- Bank statement for 6 month with salary transfer (both parent)

- Attested copy of Educational Certificate for wife

- Attested copy of Marriage certificate

- Child Passport copy of ETC

- ID and RP copy for both parent

- NOC Salary Certificate for both parent

- Work Contract Agreement

You will submit at Gate 3, Garafa Immigration, after 1 week, it will change to Ready To Print. Pay QAR. 200 through Metrash or at the immigration counter.

Then fill Residence Permit Form, affix child passport photo to it, then go to gate one to open the Visa (changing from Ready to use to Used inside Coountry). Then submit it together with the RP form at Gate 2 together with passport, you will pay the require fee and ID/RP will then be issued to you.

Mostly in this category, women are allowed to sponsor the child.

Cheers.

Thanks for the nice article.

I got confused regarding penalty for the new born in Qatar (If both parents have Qatari RP). Some say 200 QAR per day, some say 10QAR per day !

Can you provide me the exact information about penalty amount?
