Government changes causing holdups?
We've been waiting for eight months for my wife's work visa (we're Canadian, it's an executive job with government). We've been told by the employer that this is due to changes in immigration policy, and they have no idea how long the process will be. Has anyone else experienced this or heard of something similar? We're getting pretty discouraged.
Our last communication was from the executive director who said they still very much need my wife (and others who are waiting). She signed her job offer in January, we heard nothing for a few months, then we heard that the whole process had to start all over again, with them having to justify hiring non-Qataris. It's extremely frustrating; our biggest fear is that, after putting our life on hold for a year (selling our house and moving into an apartment so we can move quickly) we'll ultimately get an email that says "sorry, there's no job for you."
Check with the Canadian Embassy office in tornado Tower to see if there is restriction in Visa to Canadians. Otherwise yes it takes quite some time to get a work visa issued some have waited for one year. However I guess coxtown post is closer to reality as they are i. The Qatarization campaign means priority will always go to Qatari now.
Ask those around here who had to wait much more than this while getting visas / jobs in Canada. .... ................... Sat, 06.09.2014, 10.36 hrs
Remain positive , give some more time ....... good luck ........... Sat, 06.09.2014, 10.33 hrs
Something fishy going on, for govt jobs no waiting period for visas. May be they would have changed their mind now and giving you lame excuses, better get it confirmed with positive answer.
