Entry Visa and Other Issue
Hi There,
I have accepted an offer from one of the companies in Qatar and currently working in one of the canadian company in Canada. Due to some family issues I am currently living in India and providing support since last few months to my canadian company. Before that i was living in Canada and was providing onsite support to my canadian company. I accepted an offer from my qatar employer when i was in Canada.
I was advised by my Qatar employer that my entry visa is just on the corner and i will receive my entry visa in next couple of weeks. I got in contact with my canadian employer that i am about to resign from my job as i have accepted an offer in Qatar and asked them whether i need to come to canada to finish up the resignation process. My canadian company advised that i dont need to come to canada to finish up the resignation process as it can be done by sending written resignation letter.
As i will be provided Air tickets from my qatar employer to travel to and from canada my question is that will it going to be an issue if i dont go back to canada to finish up the resignation process and only advise my qatar employer to send me the air tickets for India after the arrival of entry visa and once i will go on holidays ask them to provide air tickets for Canada.
Please reply with your suggestions.
Thanks,
Zee
Mandilulur,
Thanks for your reply....

No, you should be able to come directly from India.Mandi
Hi Mandilulur,
I have already requested my employer to mention Halifax as my city. I need to know once the visa arrives will i still need to go back to Canada and then come back from there, or i can request my future employer to send me the tickets for India.
Zee
Your employer will have to have an address to list as your home of record. It's not enough to say Canada, it must be a specific city. Mandi
Hi Chrisd and guys,
Please read my post and advise what should i do...
Thanks,
Zee
Chrisd i have submitted my Canadian passport to my employer in Qatar and they have applied my entry visa on the basis of my Canadian passport.
Do you think i still need to be worried about all these things which i have mentioned as i will mobilize from India but my country of nationality is Canada and i am using Canadian passport for travelling.
Do you think i still need to clarify these things from my new employer...

I see your dilemma, you want your Qatar employer to treat your home country as Canada so they will provide you holiday airfare to Canada and not India. Inform your employer to treat your home country as Canada so they will provide you holiday air travel to Canada, even if you will be mobilised from India. Just have all written down, you do not what will happen in the future. Some new person in the might come in and ask why they're providing you holiday tickets for Canada when they hired you from someplace else.It all comes down to the paperwork.
Thanks chrisd and Acadian for your replies. So what you guys are saying that it will not create any issues for me if i fly from India to Qatar to join my new employer in qatar as they will provide Air ticket for it and once i will be on holidays next year i will request my employer to issue me Air tickets for Canada. Is that right.
Secondly can they say as i was hired by showing my canadian experience and i was canada at the time of hiring, so why am i coming from India. Do i need to show them my Work Experience letter on which it will be mention that i have worked till so and so date which will be my future date.
Please reply
Thanks again

So long as you do not owe anything to your company in Canada, a registered letter of resignation will be fine.
Your entry visa to Qatar does not specify that you have to come from Canada or any other country for that matter. Contact your would-be employer and inform there from where you will mobilise.
