Driving on UK License

A question that's been asked a thousand times but I still cannot get a clear answer!

My wife has a full UK license, what can she drive here and for how long? Someone said she can drive for 7 days, another person has told me she can drive a hire car for as long as she is here and has a valid visa.

Any help please?

Confused now. She's planning on staying but we can't apply for family residency for 2 / 3 months yet but she wants to drive now. So, can she drive on her 30 day visit visa using a UK license?

How do we get an international driving license, or is a UK license an international one?

International driving licence allowed to be using for 6 months.your wife has two alternatives , she can get temporary Qatari licence if her visa will be transferring to resident or she can keep driving if she is planning to go back .

I think it all depends on whether she is on a visit visa or in the process of transferring. Best check with a hire company or police

Ok - thanks, this was along my understanding of it but someone at my work thought she could drive a hire car without changing / getting a temp license

As far as I am aware, she may use her UK licence for 7 days your RP.

If she has an International Driving Permit and has a visit visa, then she can drive a rental car only.

The best option is to go to Madinat Khalifa traffic police and get a Temporary License – costs 100 QR
