I heard this news from one of my friend who works in Doha.Is it true that the requirement of No Objection Certificate (NOC) for Qatar expat will be cancelled by the Governement? I just want to know if it is true that we can directly apply to other companies without going back to our home country & spending at least two(2) years out of the state as the current law is concern. I would appreciate your response in this matter.

Not at the moment.

However, it was announced in May 2012 by the Qatari government that a change to the sponsorship system was now being considered and moving over to a 'contract'.

This is in response to pressure from Human Rights Watch and the International Trade Union movement, particularly regarding concerns over the expected mass influx of more labour for the world cup infrastructure projects.

Kuwait have already changed their sponsorship system but instead of being controlled by companies, it is now controlled by a government ministry...........so not much change really.
