Hello everyone,

I'm about to come to Qatar by the end of September to work. My husband is already there, since we both accepted job offers by the same company, few months ago. I'm waiting for his 3 month visa to expire, so that he could get proper working visa, based on which he can sponsor me.

We have been told by our employers that the only way for women to come to Qatar to work is if their husband or father sponsor their visa.

I've been trying to confirm if this is true, but I have't found stated anywhere that the only way for a women to come and work in Qatar is by family visa.

At the moment, I'd like to look for a job in porheaps different company in Doha, because I'm not quite pleased with this offer that I signed, but I don't want to wait for several months for my husbant to be able to sponsor me, I'd like to come independently on work visa, and then join my husbant. Is that possible?

Please help me on this matter. Qatar laws do change a lot and there are exeptations to everything, so I'm not sure what to think anymore.

Thank you

thank you very much, i didn't know that it's better to be on husband's visa...:)so basically i should wait till i get there on husband's visa, start working, and then look for different employers and companies, without worring about NOC or being banned from qatar for some time?if that's true, then i'm not interested in my own employer visa :)what is the procedure for getting a labour card, is that something company should solve, and does it take a long time? they haven't proven as very quick when it comes to paper work...my husband still didn't take his medical, all taks ages....do you porheaps know what is the minimum wage for him to sponsor me? or is that a different topic...thanx again...

and apply for it. If you qualify and the company can sponsor you, anytime you can come here through that company who will hie you and both you and your hubby can have extra privileges on each company that sponsor you.But as someone mentioned above, there are also  advantages on being on a husband-sponsored visa. Weigh the advantages and it's your choice.

Hi You are better off being on your husband's visa and working, you just have to get a labour card.  If you have your own employer visa and you lose your job you may have to leave qatar for some time unless your husband can get you trasferred back onto his visa.  On husbands visa you can chop and change jobs to suit yourself  without needing an NOC - only from your husband!!
