I got Qatar OFFICIAL VISIT VISA-One Vist (3 month).I want to come to Qatar to live and work though i know with the type of visa i was given,..i cannot live and work except if i can get a work permit or residence permit. I have been warned to be very careful as there are lots of people out there that would be claiming to help me but they only want to dupe me. Please, i need this forum to assist me with the following information below:

* Pls what are the things i need at the port of Qatar entry?
* How much BTA do i need to enter Qatar?
* What are the things i will need to apply for work or residence permit on arrival and how much am going to need for that?

I will be happy if my request can be treated and answered. Thanks

Wasiu

You won't be allowed to work but you can apply/search for job then once you have an employer, he/she will arrange everything for you like visa processing, medical, etc... Just make sure everything is ready. All documents like police clearance, educational certificates etc...are all authenticated and stamped and of course your CV, make sure it is ready since it is difficult to look for internet shops here and printing outside is expensive.

Do you have any relatives here? Cause if you don't you really need to have $$$. Minimum fare for taxi is 10QR(2.8$), food around 50QR(14$)/day(if you eat outside) so prepare for that. so then....good luck!

Remya is correct...

After arriving on Visit/Business/Tourist visa, if you are planning to work in Qatar, at the outset you have to find the job, then the employer will be providing you the work visa providing that the vary employer is possessing the visas for your country, and then it comes to Resident Permits etc. that all procedure is usually done by employer.

Note: Beware of overstay then your stay limit in Qatar.....the penalty may be QR 100 to 500 per day.

Hope the information is useful for you.

Regards,

Rashid

you cannot apply for work permit or residence permit on your arrival. if you are coming on a visit visa... it is just that - a visit visa. only employers can apply for work visas for potential employees, Residence permit would be an automatic thing once you have work visa.

you have to find a job first - your employer will take care of the rest. DO NOT WORK on a visit visa.
