Donot worry...It is normal
First only a visit will be issued...
And upon completion of the Residency procedures ...such as medical and finger , the permanent will be updated.

For your info, my friend applied for Residency visa for his son and the same also he is able to track under Visit category.

But it is very important to mention Residency in the application form and you have done that. Nothing to worry.
