Recently something like this happened to couple of my friends, and the moment they realized that they did a mistake, they went to the nearest traffic office and explained the situation and the officers have asked them to pay a lesser fine. and the amount was waaaayyyy less than the actual fine.
But im not sure if you could do this since now it has taken sometime.
