Never been to a funeral in a church UK. All the funeral's I've been to have been at funeral homes.
As for getting married in a church, there's loads of reasons atheists might choose to. They could be doing it to please there soon-to be spouse, parents, in-laws, or because it's the only place they can (like me).
It doesn't matter how many times an atheist goes to church, if they don't believe in God or the teachings of the religion, than they're atheist.
