Thank you. I forgot to mention that I had already tried Spinneys, no luck. I cannot find 5 Spice Powder in a bottle, so thought I'd try my hand at making my own. I have all the ingredients except for the Szechuan peppercorns. This is a recipe I found that I want to attempt. If you should come across them in the future, please let me know. Many thanks!!
5 SPICE POWDER
3 tablespoons cinnamon
6 star anise or 2 teaspoons anise seeds
1 1/2 teaspoons fennel seeds
1 1/2 teaspoons szechuan peppercorns or 1 1/2 teaspoons whole black peppercorns
3/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Directions:
1 Combine all ingredients in blender or coffee grinder.
2 Blend until finely ground.
3 Store in airtight container.
4 Keeps up to 2 months.
Note: You could"roast" the whole spices a bit for a more intense flavor in a dry frying pan-- Watch closely to prevent spices from burning.
