I agree with you in toto. For many people it is just a pastime these days to keep lambasting their life in Qatar. Before moving in here, the impression I had of life in this country was altogether distorted. The locals, I was told, are haughty, arrogant, cruel and always look down on foreigners as their paid servants.
Upon arriving here, I was rather pleasantly surprised. I found that most of the Qataris are indeed better than many other people I had met. I have found most of them to be sociable, polite, kind and very down to earth despite their affluent status.
Save for Utopia, there is nowhere on the green land of Lord where no problems exist. Each region, each city and each country has it is unique problems--- and its unique positive points at the same time. Qatar is by no means an exception.
Some people might argue that such kind of complaining attitude is rather cathartic, and thus therapeutic in nature. I disagree. Such attitude, at best, signals a pessimistic mindset and at worst, has the potential to blur from the people's sight all that is good. By constantly focusing on the negative aspects of anything, anything for that matter, in time, we, as human seem to identify that thing with bad and which ultimately makes it very hard for us to accept anything good about it.
Human beings are particularly vulnerable to suggestion. And as such, it is important to dwell on the good in the good things and the bad in bad things. This way it wont be difficult to embrace goodness and discard all that is not good.
It is my sincerest request to all the cynics of Qatar to refrain from decrying their woes. Instead, it would be good to share their positive thoughts related to life in Qatar.
