That's an issue everywhere Fatimah. Parents can sometimes be blind, or not want to admit to themselves that something might be wrong. Especially when its another family member.
I think the only thing that really needs improving here, is awareness that it is happening, and access for parents to brochures, websites, books, etc, that can show them how to talk to their kids about this kind of stuff.
My parents used a book to help teach my brother and I, because they weren't really sure how to start a conversation on what sexual abuse and pedophiles were.
Sadly I think those kinds of resources are lacking here, probably because, by definition of what they are, they might contain graphic sexual pictures or wording.
Also, I think these things do need to be taught in schools as well. Sometimes kids will listen to teachers over parents.
